[QUOTE="PredatorRules"][QUOTE="rgsniper1"] Well I'll just put this out there because I didn't see anyone correct it through the first 3 pages.
THe 360 has 3 symetrical cores running at 3.2 ghz each.
Alkpaz
so? the PS3 has 7 cores running at 3.2Ghz each = 22.4Ghz overall with Nvidia made video card...that's doesn't say alot isn't it? lol :)
If true.. then the whole core hoopla is SEVERLY over-rated..
In fact it is VERY overrated right now.
Why?
Writing software that takes advantage of multiple cores processing data simiultatneously is VERY VERY VERY difficult. Multi-threaded programming, for example, is a very advanced technique of programming that has unique perils (e.g. race conditions, irreconcilable locking ) that are not present at all in traditional single-threaded programming.
Now, if you were to design a game from scratch you might put the physics on one core, the sound system on another core, the AI on its own core, the 3D engine on its own core, etc. But to my knowledge, DirectX and whatever Sony uses are not (or haven't yet) been designed to truly take advantage of the multi-core environment.
And when they do... EXPECT A LOT MORE BUGS!!!
