What OS are you using? Vista? 1.5GB of RAM is a bit low. I recommend 2GB.
Pentium D 2.8Ghz the CPU is a little slow by today's standards.
I don't know about the 8800GTS 640MB card but my 9600GT and Q6600 and 2GB of ram max Crysis at 1024x768 No AA.
I would try to see if your motherboard can support C2D or Quad core. I doubt it would support wolfdale as it looks like you have an older system.
[QUOTE="Yorro"]Is Core 2 Duo good enough?
What about Quad Core and Core 2 Quad?

Which C2D are we talking about here?
Quads don't help much in gaming scenarios, so it's usually best to get a faster dual-core. Also, your motherboard may not support C2D's.
Actually isn't Crysis one of the games that were programed to take advangtage of 4 cores, just like almost any other game just released or coming soon.
The beauty of Crysis is that NO ONE can max it out and have a good solid frame rate :D . All we can do is OC and add more RAM to try to get one extra frame then boast about our amazing performance when deep down we all know we will just have to wait for the 10 series of Nvidia cards.

I heard about Quad SLI, even this can't run it at maximum settings with top speed?.
Yes we all have to accept the fact Crysis cant be completely maxed out, but with my rig I can play Crysis @ 1920x1200 no AA Settings on High w/ objects and blur on Medium
So If you want to come close upgrade your Pentium D to a C2D processor and consider going SLi.
I am already prepared to buy a new processor, new motherboard, and a new 8800gts for SLI.
I am just asking if Core 2 Duo is the best processor for gaming.
EDIT: i got my eye on the new Core 2 Quad Extreme.

for future proof quad core is better than dual core but then u might need to upgrade your motherboard!! so it depends on what u wonna spend!
