now, from what i've seen the game is for free....the only problem that to run this game you'll need Ageia PhysX video card.
now my question is: who's gonna buy their video card for 1 free game? (ok it's good game but still only 1 game)

I sure has hell am not getting an Ageia PhysX card. The other PCI-E x16 is reserved for another 8800GTS if I want to go SLi :Dmobius1aic

ageia physics uses a basic pci slot. The same slot used for sound cards and very old video cards. You dont need an ageia card to play cell factor anyway. Plenty of people have been playing the beta without it.Â

True, you don't need the physics card, read the preveiws ppl... The card will only help make the game look better physics-wise.
Sounds like there is some debate as to whether or not you actually need the card to run the game...but...
HYPOTHETICALLY speaking, IF you did need a card, then I would say "no", unless it is a VERY good game. I haven't researched this game so I don't know if it's that great, but "physics" aren't something that generally sells me on a game...AND the fact that it would be for only one game....nah, I don't think so.Â
If the card were $30, I'd buy it.
But no, it has to be $200...

I'd buy it if it was like 50 Â
Requiring buyers to have an Aegia PhysX card to play CellFactor would be financial suicide for the game's developers (Edit: The hell? Is this game actually free?..I wonder if Aegia is sponsoring the entire game's development..) A PhysX card will probably only be required for more advanced effects such as realistic cloth and fluid physics, which have no effect on gameplay at all.
Â
You can run the demo at excellent framerates WITHOUT a PhysX card, even with a single core processor.
You dont need the card.

The only difference it made for the latest version of the demo is much better looking cloth physics, and the addition of advanced fluid physics. Tom's Hardware had a little article they did on it a while back.
are you going to buy Ageia PhysX video card for better graphics/effects/physics?PredatorRules
Nah. I really don't think Aegia PhysX will catch on, so at that price tag it's just a waste of money. If specialized physics processors catch on at ALL it'll likely be ATi and nVidia's solutions (possibly using GPUs to do physics caluclations, something they're actually perfectly suited for,) or somewhere off in the future when specialized physics/graphics cores and general purpose cores are all combined in to one processor..as people like Tim Sweeney have suggested could happen eventually.
I remember reading somewhere that some parts of the game require the physix card, it was a GS article I think. You dont need the card.

EditÂ
"The game will automatically detect players with a PhysX card, offering them the option to progress through the single-player campaign mode that includes three "extreme PhysX" levels. PhysX users can also challenge humans and AI-enemies in four LAN-based multiplayer modes. Gamers who do not have a PhysX processor will be able to fight artificial-intelligent controlled enemies in the multiplayer "skirmish" modes, in two environments."
