I'm a student and I know Mircrosoft offers windows 7 professional for 99 bucks for students on their website. Is this a good deal? Or should I look elsewhere?

Well a normal copy of Windows 7 Home Premium OEM runs for about $110 or so. Honestly unless you are able to get into their MSDN AA, then just get that.

Change your major to computer science, then you get free microsoft products. They should provide you with an MSDNA account.

I love MSDN, free copies of Windows (from XP to 7 and soon 8), to programming software. Too bad Office wasn't included :(

Honestly? Haha. You won't find the answer on THIS forum..

Edit: Unless the MSDN thing works, good luck.

I know at my university, if you're in any engineering major, or stuff like computer science, you can get it for free.

I got the Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade Family 3-Pack for $80. Sure, it requires a previous OS install. That's no problem. I have plenty of older Windows OSes.

3 (retail) licenses for $80 isn't bad at all.

Talk with your school / teachers / network guys. They gave them for about 10$ / key at my old school to anyone that asked (if you studied there)

Only the computer science majors? Everyone gets it for free at the Universities of Switzerland. I guess I'm lucky then ;)

I always get my windows from the 'uncle', and never had a problem with them. Look into it.

I know Amazon sells it for discount prices and such at times. Cheapest I ever saw was $40 on Amazon I think.
