new skins bro, $60 aint nothing for those awesome reskins! :D
Looks alright, I never did play much of world at war mp in comparison to cod 4 and mw2 though. Saw a few gadgets in that trailer, hopefully the gameplay doesn't revolve too heavily around their usage.nutcrackr
at least they'd be going in a new direction.
I love a pure action shooter as much as anyone, but there comes a point in time where you gotta completely redo something. Lets take it out of the latter-half of the 20th century/first quarter of the 21st and go into some more random stuff.
the remote control cars, what are they trying to copy Frontlines Fuel of War? id rather play that anyways..
Saw this trailer earlier today.. honestly it got me really excited. Probably more so than I ever have been about a trailer. The new weapons look quite epic. I'm glad I cancelled my preorder for MOH... I'm gonna be taking my $60 and buying this game instead.
It seems like Activision is trying to put more stupid things in the CoD games every release to see what they can put in before people stop buying it. Every new CoD game is the exact same gameplay but with more stupid stuff added in. when will people stop buying this rehashed crap?SF_KiLLaMaNI see you have invested some serious hours in COD4: Modern Warfare my boy! Say how bout after the forums close down we play a few rounds then go out for frosty chocolate ice-cream!
It'd be fantastic is they added in actual vehicles like the first Call of Duty, but that'd be too similar to Battlefield? Anyway, the weapon choices look interesting -- but it's Modern Warfare 2 reskinned and with newer weapons. When will they switch to a new engine?
Looks pretty good, I might consider getting it. Still not buying those map packs though.brandontwb
Pretty much this.
it did look very similar to MW2, but come on we cant expect a completely fresh mp experience...
However i do think COD:BO will have better mp maps and hopefully with a Zombie mode + some extra Spec-ops like missions it will be fun playing online with friends..

Say how bout after the forums close down we play a few rounds then go out for frosty chocolate ice-cream! CoD 4 is the game that Craptivision keeps rehashing. I bought it before Activision turned all stupid. It is a good game, but I do not want to pay $60 to play the same game 4 more times. Not to mention that they make the game more outrageous every installment. it's like they are testing gamers to see how ridiculous their games can get before people stop buying it.
Well seeing as I never owner MW1,2 or WaW, I really think I will buy this day 1. I played the MW2 multiplayer for a free weekend and it was a real blast, quite refreshing after playing BC2 (speed rather than tactics).

Why do people still buy these games?
Consumers are stupid. Why are you surprised?

Also MW1's story was flipping awesome! They do have tight controls, but they're incredibly overrated. Multiplayer consists of mindless killing, endless grenade spam, cheap kill streaks and thousands of ways to die, unrealistic weaponry and no recoil, and the list goes on. There are far better multiplayer shooters out there, Bad Company 2 being one of many. The sequels have literally been $60 re-skins. New maps and weaponry, same crap over and over and over and over. I've never understood the hype or why so many lemmings continue to purchase them year after year. It's almost as bad as Madden.

Every new CoD game is the exact same gameplay but with more stupid stuff added in. when will people stop buying this rehashed crap?SF_KiLLaMaNFirst of all i got to say that i agree with you, but its better than what they do with stalker, that they rehash the games with hardly any improvements or changes. ^No bash to stalker intended and before you go saying that cod games are more than stalker games, that was not the point i was trying to get across. My point, was that if they gonna rehash a game, they might as well add some crazy particular additions that distinguish the game, which is better than hardly making any changes in their next product. What i mean is that i would prefer to buy black ops than a complete rehash of cod4/waw with more or less the same weapons and perks. That some of those additions are stupid is true, but they atleast change the gameplay a bit. If those things were not there, it will feel alot more the same with cod 4. So in conclusion i am glad they making those changes. Oh and another thing, anyone else things that it will be tons of fun if you are able to use those things in compaign mode extensively?

Wow, thanks for the news. Blowing $60 on a reskinned game is incredibly stupid, however, and as I stated before, consumers tend to be stupid. Madden is the greatest example. Add a roster update and a few new worthless features, then call it a brand new game and people gulp it down. I would rather see Treyarch or Infinity Ward give us $60 of something truly new and that pushes past the limits of what we've already seen before. How long has this same game engine been in use now? It's like a grandmother at this point, several years old and still being "upgraded" whereas developers such as DICE truly give it their best and throw us a bone with destructible environments unlike anything we've seen before. And yes, Bad Company 2 is arguably the better game overall. It's a more sophisticated game, no doubt about it, and it has more depth and teamwork than Modern Warfare could ever dream about.
ppl will whine about the game, ppl will say its crap, ppl will do petition about it but in the end ppl will buy it, I am buying it :Dyemen_headshot
That's because consumers are sheep - consumers are stupid. Just like the Modern Warfare 2 "boycott" groups that bought the game in droves as soon as it was released. I was probably 1 in every 150 people in those "groups" who have truly boycotted the game to this day.

Get over yourself... calling people stupid because they enjoy a game you don't is just nonsense. Not every game needs to push boundaries to be fun,and it's a little hypocritical to push BC2 as your flagstone game considering it's just a rehashed BC1 with more stuff. Yeah, great.. destructible environments. But it has clunky indoor combat and hit detection is subpar as per DICE's usual delivery.
You can say DICE gave it their all, but at the end of the day.. I uninstalled BC2, I'm done with it, and yet I'm still playing MW1 and MW2. But oh wait, I must just be a stupid lemming... it's not like I made that choice for myself or I'm just playing the games I like or anything.

I'm still not sure you even understand what I'm saying. My point is not that Call of Duty is a terrible series, but rather that paying $60 for nothing more than a re-skin is something only lemmings do. The games have shown few-to-no improvements from one Modern Warfare-esque game to the next, and the fact that they're charging full price while making so few changes to the formula is ridiculous. Much of what I'm seeing could easily be coming in the form of Download Content or expansion packs. In comparison, Bad Company 2 offers far more new things and emphasizes more teamwork and tactics than Modern Warfare, and that's why I was saying it's the superior game in regards to its depth and teamplay. Modern Warfare is an "idiot's shooter" in which you run around like, well, an idiot, killing enemies in sight with no real objective in mind unless you're on one of the few maps that doesn't involve meeting a score or time criteria. Because I know you'll take this the wrong way, too, I'm not calling you an idiot if you enjoy the game. What I mean by "idiot's shooter" is that it takes no more thought than seeing someone, getting them in your sights, and pulling the trigger. There is no recoil to worry about, no teamwork to be concerned with, and few to no objectives to meet. It's a shooter made for simpletons.

They've been using the same engine since Call of Duty 2, released in 2005, just with visual "updates" such as lighting effects and depth of field to try and make it seem as if it's modern. Go back and play Call of Duty 2, and the similarities will immediately pop out at you.

holy crap they are giving a whole new meaning to the word lazy and repetitive.Ehhm guys, the engine will be updated. That has been said by treyarch, they are going to improve the visuals alot. Now i know that that multiplayer footage looked like mw2. But On consoles they tone down visuals on the mp. Wherever the full product will be like that on pc, i cant say, but it wil look better than mw2 according to the devs.dakan45
But in the end, it's still the same engine, just updated as time goes by. They've literally been sitting on the same engine now for many years, much like Madden on consoles.

Ehmm, they are not the only ones who do it, valve and bethesda does it too. Dont take me wrong, i am ok with a new engine but in my personal opinion cod's engine has managed to look pretty good among the multiplats and perfom well, i cant see a reason to improve it until new consoles comes out. Besides pc devs like valve and gsc (stalker) are also sticking to their engine. Perhaps when rage comes out things will change, but apart from what i mentioned before, most game engines are unreal engine 3.0 with changes put into them.holy crap they are giving a whole new meaning to the word lazy and repetitive.GazaAli
 Everybody is doing it. Everyone is being lazy, whatever might be the lack of lean in mw2, or some other crap pc versions like gta iv. Everyone is being lazy and does not bother on improving graphics engines or the controls in pc version.
If you think "they" are the ones that that give a whole new meaning to that, then you are either biased with hatred or simply missinformed.
They said the graphics will be really improved from mw2.
They give us dedicated servers, yet you imply that they are more lazy than iw on mw2
They are treated like crap from activision and they wanted them to develop a game in such as short timescale . (Not much time room for massive improvements)
...oh and last time with waw? They were developing 3 games at a time.
Cut them some slack and take your hatred to people like valve who deserver it. Atleast treyarch is working on game and not sitting looking at the celling with boredom trying to figure out what they will do with half life episode 3.....let alone we all know that it will have the same engine, so what are we even argue about usage of old engines?
Ehmm, they are not the only ones who do it, valve and bethesda does it too.dakan45
Valve and Bethesda create some of the most innovative, unique gaming experiences found in the industry, whereas Treyarch and Infinity Ward do anything but that.
I can really argree, apart from portal, valve has yet to be inlighted with a good idea.
Anyway i am in strong belief that black ops will be better when i originally thought it will be yet another cod.
Now that belief cannot be confirmed but take a look at this at 7:40 and notice the new ai tricks that stray far from the usual casual cod ai.
Also notice what they say about activision in the end.
Perhaps there is hope yet.
That was really cool.. I'm thinking/hoping the character customization goes up to R6: Vegas 2 standards. Also I can't believe the Spetznasz advisor was Sonny!! He was on the Deadliest Warrior, LOL. That guy knows his stuff and always played everything so cool.I can really argree, apart from portal, valve has yet to be inlighted with a good idea.

Yeah I obviously didn't get what you're saying, because that seems completely different. I'm ok with that. I don't need tactics and teamwork in every shooter.. lots of games are meant just to relax, sit back and enjoy yourself. And it's really easy to do that in MW2.. tougher in BC2 when your team doesn't want to play ball. If you want to have a bit more strategy, there's HQ or S&D modes, but for people like me that love mindless killing, large scale TDM is where it's at.
Perhaps I'm alone in this, but I prefer the standalone game a year strategy with smaller updates while still delivering a solid package, INSTEAD of download packs or DLC. I can just imagine that the amount of DLC that they would've done from MW1 to MW2 would've ended up costing the same amount as a standalone title over time... and releasing a standalone game gives them a chance to revamp a lot of things that would have otherwise remained stagnant if they released downloadable content on top of the original game.
I think Black Ops is definitely going to be fresh enough to warrant a complete game... from the way it looks so far, that'd be one hell of a DLC pack.
