"The price increase is a business decision," he said, "Activision knows it has a 'hot' game, knows that the market will pay an additional 10 per cent, and has decided to increase price accordingly."

"My guess is that this is a one-time test for Activision, and that they will re-think the strategy after seeing if it angers consumers," he continued. "If there is no consumer backlash, I think we may see higher pricing on other games"

I for one, will not buy this game on release. I think Act is getting too cocky and becoming a bigger greedy evil machine than 1990s EA.

Yeah, I haven't been happy with Activision's business methods lately... still unsure as to whether I am getting this game too, but this really makes me want to wait for a price drop.

Activision also must have failed basic math. 10% of 50 is 5, so if it was only a 10% increase it would be $55 not $60. Increasing the price to $60 is a 20% increase. Anywho I will probably buy it anyway :-P

No, I am definitely not buying this game at full price. Maybe a few months after it is released. If it doesn't come down in price........Activision will not get my money.

I waited for CoD4 to drop in price before I bought it, and I imagine I will probably do the same with this one.

That is pretty lame, I haven't really enjoyed a CoD since the 2nd on the PC and probably wasn't going to buy it anyways, but for people that are strapped for cash and thinking they could get a few bucks cheaper on the PC, kind of sucks for them.

I'm not buying this game a full price, but I can't remember the last time I didn't wait a month or so before making a purchase.

Well seeing how I disliked CoD4, I can safely say that I will not be purchasing this game at launch. Maybe after a large price drop.

I still consider CoD4 at $40 expensive for a ~2 years old game. Take a look at TF2, another ~2 years old game that sells for $20 dollars and the devs keep adding content very often. Activision might learn a thing or 2 from the TF2 devs. I won't be getting paying console prices on PC, period.

I'm still going to pick it up as soon as possible.. the video they just released looks great. I do realize that supporting this only encourages Activision to raise future prices, but it is a major title for them, and the sheer number of preorders all but guarantees them huge sales numbers, so I don't blame them for making what I see as a good business decision.. Also I can't justify delaying my purchase waiting for a price drop that might never come.

I blame you solely if I have to start paying $60 for every PC game *Glare*

But being serious now, the price will drop eventually and more then likely become a Steam weekend sale down the road.

10 dollars may not be expensive for one game but think overtime. If you buy an average 1 game a month. Then you will be paying an extra $120 a year. With that money, you could upgrade your system, buy 2 brand new games at $50 price range, or buy 4 $30 expansion packs.

actually, it is. If you work for anything near minimum wage and pay your own rent and live hand to mouth like a lot of people, ten dollars is actually quite a bit of money.

But, besides strictly that, its the whole principle of the matter. Ive been paying 49.99 for new releases for 18+ years of PC gaming, and now they pull this crap?!

Why? Is there extra content? Is the game, like, edible so when I get done with it I can make a CoD sandvich? Tell me, why must I pay an extra ten, unnecessary dollars?

Yea, but its $10 more in an age where we're getting nickel and dimed for everything more and more each day. Especially in these tough economic times, don't stress your consumers anymore than they already are.

Definitely no. As a college student with little to no personal money, I don't have the spare 10 dollars laying around. Even more so, I don't have 50 dollars laying around for a sequel that smells too much like an overpriced expansion pack.

most games are £25-£35 here on release, never seen a brand new game priced over £35 tbh, it'd be funny if they did try and charge that much, they must have forgot we're in a recession here and everyone's skint.

i doubt ill be buying it anyway, maybe when its in the bargain bin, not goin to paying £35 (or more) for a 6 hour campaign, especially a campaign that, other than some updated graphics, is pretty much just like every other, in a series that should have died a long time ago

I wasn't going to pay 50, 40, or even 30 US$ for this game. Maybe 20 US$, but that's pushing it. Then again, being a poor college/university student, I generally can't afford to blow 50+ US$ on each new game, especially when many of the new releases seem to be minor upgrades of previous titles. I'd rather pick up a bunch of older titles at 10 or 20 US$ a pop, and the older games from years past tend to play better anyway.

Same exact fears i have. I wasn't going to buy this to begin with though, i'm sure the game isn't even worth 50 dollars, let alone 60. Activision is getting worse every day.

im gonna avoid it till after christmas. ill probably get cod 4 when modern warefare 2 comes out (hopefully there will be another price drop). i really want this game but i dont wanna support a price increase, even though i can afford it. the only problem is it has been 2 years and modern warfare has only gone down 10 bucks. :/ does not bode well for modern warfare 2.
