try this, it will install it from the disk
1. Close Steam (File > Exit).
2. Go to the Start button and select Run (XP) or type Run in the Search box and choose Run from the list (Vista).
3. In the Run window type:
"C:Program FilesSteamSteam.exe" -install E:
Replace E: with the CD/DVD drive you are installing from if is not correct.
Replace C:Program FilesSteam if your Steam installation is not in the default location.
4. Press OK. Your installation should continue from the disc.

So, if I buy the hard copy, it will still be linked with steam showing my total time played, stats, etc.??

yes its good that it is with steam because it has great support such as patches and updates and also its got a good party feature and its really easy to get into a group with a bunch of steam friendsjrorl63And it's good because if you don't like the game you can like not get a refund.... wat
