COLD FEAR - How much does this game scared you?

Hi there,

I bought Cold Fear last week and this game scared the frog out of me. OK Doom3 and F.E.A.R. scared me too, but IMHO Cold Fear was a bit more scary as you were on a ship, strong winds, high waves, heavy rainfall and these zombies with their glowing red eyes... OMG I never completed that game.

The graphics are quite nice, also the sound effects add a lot of atmosphere.

Were you scared when you played it?

Doom 3 scared me. Then I got tired of changing from weapon-to-flashlight and quit. Not that the monsters were scary but the way monsters just jumped out of nowhere suddenly.

If you thought Cold Fear is scary, never play Silent Hill 1 2 3 4.

They are REALLY scary.

Hmm Silent Hill sounds interesting. What is that game about, I just found parts 2,3 and 4 for the PC. I think I^´ll buy them tomorrow when I find them in the stores here. I beg your pardon, low standards for horror?? Did I say I played Land of the Dead Road to Fiddlers Green or somethin´

For me, Doom3is still a good and scary game and not such a yuck like Land of the Dead the PCGame.

Ah Cold Fear.. nice graphics.. good Manson music.. but, as for the game itself.. the mechanics get some getting used to.. but it's okay.. nothing really special.. IMO Resident Evil has done this before many times. Nice end boss though.. :) Kinda of a quick game.. wouldn't buy it full price, but I'm sure you can find it for 20 or less now.

This is getting weary, so for you what are your High Standards of a Horror Genre?

Man Cold Fear is garbage! Resident Evil 4 is like 100x better then Cold Fear. I played Cold Fear for like 10 mins and quit and said to my self its a RE4 rip off. I never even got to the "scary" parts of the game.

and Resident Evil 4 is (im telling the truth) not really scary. Its more thrills then chills.

RE4 is not a scary game. Only the chainsaw guy is scary (though it's not scary at all when you see him for the third time).

Silent Hill is not scary like Doom. The game storyline and atmosphere makes it scary, the monsters don't scare that much in SH series, but the sound and characters do....
Fear is one game that didn't scare me once... I was just too bored of going from one empty place to another empty place that when the scares appeared it felt like the developers were trying to make you curious enough to enter the next empty room.

Nothing, whatever zombie crap from Resident Evil, or Silent Hill, or FEAR, can stand up to the very best scariest game ever: SYSTEM SHOCK 2.

Do not play with the lights out. Very good game, but amazingly scary.

didnt scare me at all. it was only a little creepy.

Cold Fear is a little freaky but not scary.

What jumped me was AvP2 - that damn motion detector - you hate it and love it! However at the moment I'm playing Missing Since January. A little hard to get into it however I think I'm about a third into it and starting to get a little freaky...almost real.
