Company of Heroes... Need a little Help.

The game loads up fine but when I go to play anything with gameplay a little over half way on the loading bar the whole game crashes. I know for a fact my computer can handle it. What could it be?

btw my drivers are all updated.

Not including your specs narrows the problem down to a couple dozen things.

AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2500+, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.8GHz

512MB RAM

GIGABYTE RADEON 9600 PRO

Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 ( 2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 )

Pretty sure it should work with this. Games like HL2,Fear,CSS, and QIV get maxed out.

It could be that video card since its not truly a ATI card but just the chipset. Also is you DX up to date 9.0c??

Yes my DX is up to date. It said it would ask me during the install of the game if it was not up to date...  

I think you need to back the settings down for the game.

Your processor sounds old (I'm not an AMD expert), you are lacking ram (you should have a gig at least), the video card is AGP and only 128mb. My guess is you are trying to push it too hard for this game.

Whoops I upgraded my computer. still running 512RAM. let me get the other info though. and I'm in the middle of downloading v1.50. is there a newer one?DiabeticDood

Yeah there is a 1.51 version I believe.

You would really benefit from closing down un-needed programs when you play because you have 512 megs of RAM then you have to minus the amount the OS uses and other programs so you might really have only 300 megs left when you go to play.

If you had a PCI-e card and one that had 256mb onboard memory you would be in better shape.

I can barely run the game with a 3000xp, 2gigs of RAM, and an x850 xt video card. It runs but I have to tweak my PC to have it run at an acceptable level. Still get around 22fps until I get into heavy combat. At those times it's a good thing I'm a patient person.

I do remember it got mad at me when I didnt have enough virtual memory set aside for it. Dunno man. Good luck.

For comparisons sake I have pretty good luck with a P4 2.8, 2G ram, 7600GTCO. I don't know my framerates off hand but it works smooth with only an occasional hiccup during some skirmishes. Thinking back to the splash screen I think this game may favor Nvidia cards or maybe its some other reason you are encountering poor performance.

I think that in that case...their is something messed up with your drivers.....or you are running a backround app....that is interfering with the game....

oh...and are you an administrator?  many games, and I do mean many will not let you play unless you are in admin...

I'm admin on my windows profile. I've tried creating a new profile and it still only does it for me. I just tried a few minutes and ago after playing it on my moms profile and still stops half way on the loading screen. My drivers should be fine there updated and we just sent my computer to a local place and they said they cleaned everything out. There's no worms viruses bugs nothing! It's 100%clean.
