[QUOTE="MrLions"][QUOTE="DanielDust"] CoH was developed great, but because it's the kind of "random", fun RTS it is, the multiplayer complete fails when it comes to it being competitive, and if you look at RTS sales, only RTSs with great multiplayer or TBSs for singleplayer sell a lot, no matter how good the sp in CoH is, it failed sales wise, the project funding has nothing to do with poor sales, Relic did their best, now if they'd release something like Homeworld 3 (which it was announced, kinda), that would sell.DanielDust
The multiplayer is only complete fail when you play as the OF factions. :P I like the multiplayer but imo it's not even half the quality of the sp campaign, but it's fun, I like it way more than the standard RTS formula but apparently most RTS players are looking for competitive play and there isn't such a thing in CoH. I can't stand playing competitively :P for example I win a few games one after another in SC 2, then somebody destroys me, I'm a quitter when it comes to not going the way I want to :P, in games like CoH, DoW 2 even DoW 1(little less tho) you have fun even if you're losing. I somewhat agree. I agree it's a real put off when you're down and losing. In SC2, you usually take a loss and shrug it off, provided you know when to cut your losses and do the gg. In COH, it's fighting tooth and nail to the bloody end :P. After losing a huge 3v3 that lasts upwards of an hour, I lose the drive to play COH for weeks.
But I disagree with your comment about competitive play, at least for 1v1s. I watched a series from a gamereplays tourney, and some of those matches were way more intense and nail-biting than Starcraft 2 could ever be. In a VPC game, the Wehr player was taking huge losses, and he only had a few points left on the counter. At the end of the game, he rolled out a KT and managed to secure a point, bringing it to a complete standstill, while the American player threw EVERYTHING he could at the point, in order to get the counter moving again. The wehr player lost, but he managed to get the American player very close to 0 (from close to 100 points before), if he just held the line for 2 more minutes, I think he could have won.
