That cooler will def fit in a 922, However if you dont plan on overclocking or live in a hot area, you dont really need it to save money.
Also that psu is fine, im assuming you're SLIing in the future with 750w.
However, if you really wanna save money, consider a AMD build.
Yeah an AMD build would save a bit of money. I'll put one together for TC :D and see how it compares. That cooler will def fit in a 922, However if you dont plan on overclocking or live in a hot area, you dont really need it to save money.

Ya AMD build will save you like some money while keeping the gaming performance.

True, but this shows with the money saved with AMD, you can get more memory and still have cash left over. And also we will get to a point where 8gb will be reccomended so might as well get it now and add later.Okay so I got carried away and built you a monster for the same price...

That triple channel ram wont work with that mobo, As far as I know, all amd mobos are dual channel only.
So my concern is the MOBO posted seems much less of a qulaity piece than the one I had selected, and it is alot refle ted in price. Also it is dual channel memory instead of tri-channel (as is the ram). The evga board even has a liftetime warranty. Is there a better board, maybe should I go with tri-channel (that will work with the AMD), or again is it worth saving the money as its not going to make a diffrence. O and will the supply work? It says its specifically compatible with i7, ok for amd? Thanks for help, im pretty newrainman13189
A few quick things, the PSU is just fine and will work, not sure where you read "specifically for i7." for this PSU:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817207001
I'll take a look and see if there is a better motherboard, though asus is a great brand.

Yeah I noticed. Only realised after. I read "DDR3 2000 support" and jumped the gun on that one. Why? Ive ran an AMD/Nvidia setups for over 10 years. Plus the fact that his 3d modeling programs should be able to use CUDA and that will speed things alongAlright I'm finding it a little annoying putting AMD CPU and Nvidia GPU's together :Pso I'm going to price it out as an AMD/ATI setup.

Also You went up to the 480 graphics card I see, which is much more money, which I assume why the powersupply is bigger. Im a little wary of spending $500 on one part If I went with this processor would I need the CPu cooler, I dont want anything to burn out but im not goign to over clock (purpoesfully, i dont know how that works)rainman13189I would just go with my changes because for 3d modeling 8gb>6gb>4gb no matter the type of channel dual or triple. The psu should be 500w or better will work just fine. Unless the cpu is a OEM product the cpu's come with a cpu cooler, but using that hyper 212+ is the better option.

Is it worth finding a good quiet (affordable) CPU cooler, I know I might not need it but would it be worth it (do u know of any)? Or are there any other things that might be worth (i'll probly get warrnty extensions, is a better thermal paste worth it?) Also just so I understand how does amd compare to intel. You said this will perform the same, but for example why r intels all quad prcoessors (i think) and this prcessor is 6 cores? Also randomly can you suggest a reliable affordable external hd to backup stuff onrainman13189It depends if you plan on overclocking, having an after market CPU doesn't hurt. Also Intel does have 6 core i7 CPU's they're just a lot more expensive.

That Hyper 212+ is a good aftermarket cooler, ands normal thermal paste is just fine. Intel 6 cores were like 1K and now still over $800
2.8 ghz vs 3.0 ghz you even see the difference. But there is a 3 ghz version its the 1090T which is an extra $100 so is 200mhz worth an extra $100? No.
Just go with The list me and Nvidia/ATI made above and you will be set.
Its not worth the extra$100 for an extra 400 mhz on the X6(your not going to tell the difference) trust me on this . Also theres no need for you to get a $130 750w PSU. the one I posted above is more then enough for what you need. But if you really want a 750w psu this is one you should get. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006&cm_re=750w_corsair-_-17-139-006-_-Product
Hey I just got the parts shipped in... Im worrying though.
Will the cpu and mobo definitly fit and be compatible, they both are am3 socket, but the mobo says it supposrts 2 and 4 core (has two little logos for the phenom II x2 and x4), doesnt have a tag for 6 that i see. I dont want to try to fit it in or blow something out if its not gonna work.

So its up and running. IS there any fine tuning I should do to get the most out of it. I know I can overclock, or unlock cores with the motherboard, I dont want to dmamage anything though i dont know how to manage all of that.
Also the main question, the large fan on top of the thermalight case i think worked the first time i booted up but now its just not spinning and i tried plugging it in a different plug and it moved slightly then stopped. Any advice? way to fix or something

Please, post some pictures of it in this thread.
So the fan on the top of the case moves a little when i boot up but hten stops.
It seems like maybe a wire is loose, or not enough power is reaching it?
In terms of perforamnce when i boot up the asus mobo screen pops up and says "4 cores activated" (for hte cpu), are not all 6 cores acvtivated because of a setting that i should change or is that just overclocking? There is a switch on the mobo that says coreunlocker, maybe I should change that?
I just dont want to damage anything with the overclocking/ core unlocking features, but i do wnat performance. Maybe I should core unlock (however that works) but not overclock?
(this is the least of my worries...but...
It also boots very slow, shows the asus menu and then goes into another black screen where i have to select win7 (and theres 2 win7s listed with no visible difference, which seems odd, (at the bottom of the page it says memory check or something, im not sure what this menu would be called), way to turn off these first 2 screens or something?
I cant take a picture right now i because of some sd card issues
