Competitive Online Strategy Games?

So, I own Starcraft 2 and play games like DotA2 and LoL but I wanted to know if maybe there is another strategy game, no matter the type, out there that I could get into. I played SC2 for 2-3 years before taking a break. I still love it but I also got into MOBAs. I love DotA2 and play LoL to mix it up sometimes but I really want something else. Something to dig into and learn. Im no pro at ANY of those games but at a certain point you arent a noob anymore but arent going to go pro either. I just want another something something.

Edit: I forgot to mention that I also own and have played all the Dawn of War 2 games, Company of Heroes, Company of Heroes 2 and dozens of other titles that dont really have online communities anymore. I know CoH2 is active but the balance issues of the game make me want to murder someone so I stopped playing it.

Well still along the MOBA lines have you tried Heroes of Newerth?

I havent but I figured that was not as populated because of LoL and DotA? I love MOBA but I was actually hoping for something not so MOBA since I have two to play lol. Please tell me theres SOMETHING Im missing. I really dont want to reinstall Company of Heroes 2 lol.

@Gamesterpheonix: It's a shame that SC2 is the only really competitive new RTS out at the moment. Some older games still have a bit of a scene, like Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance still has pretty good community.

RTS has always been my favourite genre, so I'm looking forwards to upcoming titles like Grey Goo. As for MOBA's, I really can't get into them, so I have almost no opinion on them. Give me base building and commanding armies any day.

CoH 2 is in pretty good shape, the balance isn't as bad as most people say it is, they just dont know how to play. I have a good group of people I play with almost daily and we win and lose as both sides all the time. There is also a major patch coming in a couple days that will address a couple of lingering issues and add an observer mode.

C&C Generals is my favorite, if you could find someone to play with...

I love Hearthstone! lol. Great strategy card game for sure. But Im looking for unit control and resource management and all that. Ill reinstall Forged Alliance if there really is a good community still there. Problem is, last time I played it there were WAY too many cheaters.

As for Company of Heroes 2, maybe Ill check it out after the patch drops. I never really played 1v1 much but I knew that that mode was way better for balance and gameplay. I dont know why I never got into it though. I love 1v1 in SC2 but I dont know. I just really wish Relic would stop with all the DLC. I understand that the game needs to be supported but if they had made a complete and competitive title in the first place, they wouldnt be having issues. SC2 is the best testament to that. Sure its different companies and budgets but other companies have produced better with smaller budgets. That isnt to say it isnt a good game, no, its a great game. But it has a lot of lost opportunities too.

Btw, are there any chess-like or turn-based multiplayer games? I wouldnt mind that either. I know mobile has a lot of those kinds of games but most of them are asynchronous.

Edit: I reinstalled SupCom Forged Alliance. There is NO ONE playing (on the Steam version). So...screw that. I just played the first mission of the campaign though...took me 3 hours. I took my sweet time and destroyed everything...but for no reason. I dont think I really have fun either...SMH. The Cybran nukes also suck...

World in Conflict was pretty competitive when it was fresh, anyone still play it?

Maybe try Sid Meier's Civilization V or one of the many games in the Total War series? also, im getting pretty hyped for the upcoming Total War: Warhammer game, as i am a super nerd when it comes to the Warhammer and Warhammer 40k universe. Also the Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War origional series games were amazing.
