Okay i wa slooking at a power supply calcualter earlier and i had a wierd result so im posting it here to see if you agree with it, i have a 600 watt PSU and im upgrading certain parts, heres what ui put in and my results:

AMD phenom 2 965 3.4 GHz

2 sticks of ddr3 ram

2 10k rpm drives

2 hd 5770 in crossfire

soundblaster

8 usb ports

2 cd drives

ok there the main things and the calc said i only need 456 watts, that cant be right can it? I ran it a few times to make sure.

Sounds about right. Two 5770's take a lot less voltage to run than you think. I calculated the maximum wattage that the system could take, and I got 491W. So anything with around 45A on the 12V rail (left a 10% buffer between actual and available wattage) should be good for you.

Yes that sounds plenty, at absolute peak wattage your rig could perhaps use up 465w but thats the theoretical max not the full load actual powerdraw. The watts actual draw and recomended PSU wattage isn't the same, For example. :Your rig wouldn't draw much more than 80-130w at idle and with a peak theoretical powerdraw at 465w, a good 5xx watt could be a good choise for such a rig, but using a low quality PSU you would need much more watt since they mostly use cheap components and wont hold what they promise, dont be fooled by PSU makers wanting to sell you unefficient and overthetop wattage PSU's, a bad/low quality 650w could have serious problem running your rig but a good brand 600w will not brake a sweat.
