My computer..

  • 250gb harddrive
  • 2gb ram

  • 4850 video card
  • one case fan
  • p5 motherboard
  • cd/dvd combo drive
do you guys think the corsair 450vx is enough for my computer?

hmm i would go a little higher to be safe. You have the right idea going with a solid company though. The VX550 would be good.

pft you only need 400 watts to run that, i used to run all 4 of my 500gb hdd's an e6600, 4 ggb of ramm, and a 8800gt OC'ed on a 375 watt, you really dont need as much as you would think, luckly though i upgraded to 650, but i really dont notice ny diffrences at all..... and five case fans, 2x120 3x80

I've been searching for hours trying to find a good PSU on a budget..

I'm trying to spend less than $80 on one.

The antec earthwatts 500 seemed really good until I found out that they switched their manufacturer to delta instead of seasonic.. the corsair 450vx is the cheapest best one I could find.

It's $75 at newegg.

That's probably the best PSU in that price range, and it's plenty strong enough to power your setup.

How many watts a power supply claims to deliver is not the most important indicator of its quality. How many amps it supplies is a far more important statistic, and FYI, that power supply supplies about 33 amps on a single rail, which is pretty much enough for your system.

That PSU is more than enough, it is a great unit, and you should be very pleased with it.

Yes a VX450 would do that without hazzle.

But I would aim a little bit higher get a VX550.
