You have to remember that these are people that play all kinds of games and have seen lots of them.  Compared to other "stealth games" Splinter Cell series is above all of them.  No question about it.

Well, except for Thief, of course. ;)

Personally, I've always found the Splinter Cell games to be lacking in...something. Maybe I'm just really sick of these modern 'covert ops guy vs. terrorist' plots...

Chaos theory was fun, but I got to agree there is a lot games with the same concept.

Splinter Cell series series deserve 9.6 or higher ... IMO. With my regards to other games and i want other popular / good games to score higher too .

Splinter Cell games are good, but they just feel like they're lacking something, I think it's just an extra feature which is in most stealth games that we don't notice in Splinter Cell

Good, it's your opinion. The person who reviewed the game, though, Greg Kasavin in this case, had a different one. Simple as that.

I think Splinter Cell is amazing but its way to scripted to get a really high official review. But Splinter Cell Double Agent didn't deserve anything higher than a 7 in my opinion. It was a good game but not a good Splinter Cell game and the PC version was just a waste of space as far as stability is concerned and now I've lost all faith in Ubisoft and the Splinter Cell series.

If the person that reviews the game is bias, then the review will be bias too

All up till this last one have been great. Double agent deserves less then a 3.0. Check out other threads. Check out there own blog. It looks like better then 40% of the people that bought the game can't play it or have major problems. That sounds like a really pathetic job of programming to me. I bought the game when it first came out and haven't been able to play it yet. Just like thousands of others. No a game so poorly programmed deserves better than a 1.0 or 1.5 maybe. There really is no excuse for such a poor product.

Your not missing much, I managed to play it through to the end on my old system and I was so disapointed. Its practicaly turned me away from any future SC game it was so lame.

the original splinter cell was completely awesome - really, really great game

but each splinter cell since then has been a minor upgrade - pandora tomorrow added, uh, wait wait, don't tell me.... nothing? besides the cool multiplayer, anyway

chaos theory added a few neat touches - the sound bar was great, added a whole new dimension to stealthing, but they didn't do enough with it, it was more like a very cool afterthought - the multiplayer was also expanded in a great way, and it was cool how you could smash open locks, or pick them - but this is hardly second-sequel stuff

double agent didn't really do anything new at all - getting rid of the sound and light guages was a smart move, since you become far more focused on sam and the environment, instead of keeping both eyes on the bars, and just a peripheral sort of vague sense of the actual game... smart move - but that aside, da added nothing noteworthy

and splinter cell 5 is coming soon - talk about a yearly franchise, ubi is gonna put ea to shame at the rate it's going

i love stealthing, and i love splinter cell as a series, but the original aside, i wouldn't really say any of the splinter cells deserve serious praise (as single player games, CT has killer multiplayer) - they're just good examples of very small incremental improvements that, essentially, amount to nothing but more of the same over and over

i'm hoping SC5 will offer something cool and new... but, well, any game with 5 in the title just isn't gonna delivery any new experiences

We got a genius here. Since when has stealth been about speed and swiftness? Its about finesse and how silent you can stay when there is a lot of obstacles in the way. And about a good main character and storyline too.
