Just wanted to share this with all you...

After work today I went down to my local G.A.M.E. shop to ask if Wheelman was out.

They said "We aren't selling the PC version...",

I said "Excuse me, did I hear you wrong..."

"Nope, we are only selling the console versions...."

Ok, so I went to my local EB Games store...which I hate anyway cause it's more expensive.

They said "We don't know when it's coming out... but we might not sell the PC version"

"WTF is happening...?"

Now angry, I went to my local JB HiFi Store

"We haven't got the PC version yet... but yes, we will be selling it..."

Thank GOD...

This is truly amazing. (yes, I know I can buy it online also)

PC Gaming isn't dying and will never die, but these Games Stores sometimes piss me off...

They can shoot us but they can't kill us. While it angers me that they wouldn't sell it it doesn't worry me.

Yea they try to push lower graphic, cheaper systems to support the cause of growing corporations. They should just sell games because they are games and let the gaming corporations worry about taking over America without them.

Yeah I agree. I dislike eb games and gamestop. they don't really sell pc games and they are expensive. That is why I try to buy my games off the internet or at bestbuy. I just hate buying online because they take a while to get and I hate spending an extra 5 to 10 to get it in 2-6 days. So far, bestbuy is my preferred choice.

Doesn't worry me either....but angers me. At JB, they just re-arranged the whole gaming section. Yeah sure, XBOX and PS3 stands are first....but then there is a whole wall behind them full of PC games...

i hate that also. i when i got my new graphics card to play oblivion, i went to gamestop to get oblivion they didn't have it. gamestop is my place where i buy my games. i had to go to wal-mat to get the game. places are starting to stop selling PC games. at my gamestop there is just a very small wall with the PC games. some of them are old games. the rest of the store have a bigger selection of games.

Yeah, more stores definitely need to get new PC titles in. Even Wal-Mart has started getting really bad lately about not carrying certain PC titles. Mass Effect and Brothers in Arms, for example, are two PC titles I've been wanting to try. Sure enough, however, they carry neither - yet both are fairly large titles! It just feels like we're being nudged more and more towards digital downloads rather than in-store purchases.

Yes because when a few stores stop carrying games that can be found elsewhere it is cause to pirate. What were the popular excuses when EB and the other stores carried lots of PC games ?

EB and the other stores carried lots of PC games?

There was a time when PC had a lot more shelf space, more so than some consoles.

I guess it's been so long ago, I can't remember. These days, the PC sections just absolutely suck. Remember the "Games for Windows" crap Microsoft pulled, saying they'd throw in these special kiosks and shelves for the special little PC sections in each store? I wonder where that idea went. :|

Yeah it would of been late 90's I think. The Game For Windows does have it's own kiosk at my local EB, it is 2 games wide by 4 games high. Just a whack of space :)

I'd say blame the publishers? Wheelman was on torrents long time before many saw it in stores. Lots of people in other forums couldn't find the damn game in stores, how do they expect to sell it?

Digital Distribution is an option. Secondly so what ? Games usually hit torrents first, that doesn;t make piracy right or justified.

^^^ He wasn't justifying it. And my Best Buy has a good amount of PC games. So did my Circuit City, but that closed down a while ago. Gamestop the last time I went there (like 1-2 years ago I think, idk) there was this little shelf of PC games with mostly like World of Warcraft and the Starcraft Battlechest or something.

I stopped buying from EB Games, personally, since the local store sucked balls (small store space, too many people). And their selection of PC Games were subpar. So I just went to Best Buy, as they have a healthy selection of PC Games to sell.

Hey guys... I have AN AWESOME IDEA. What if I ring Vin Diesel himself and tell him to come down to OZ. It would be great.... We both turn up at EB Games. Me: "Hey mate...remember me?" Vin: "What do you mean you don't sell my title on PC....?" Then Vin turns into Riddick mode and DESTROYS EVERYTHING..... what a sight to behold...

Meh, i don't bother with high street stores anymore, they're run for the mainstream and are mostly run by regular retail people who have no intrest in games

Games stores don't stock PC games any more because PC games aren't bought in games stores any more. It's mostly online now. The same thing will happen with console games and pretty much everything else. Digital distribution > online stores > highstreet stores

Same. I prefer digital distribution via Steam, but if I can't get the game on Steam I just hit amazon.com. Sometimes ebay if the price is right.

Why you getting pissed at the game stores? You want them to stock games they can't sell (at least enough to make a profit)? They aren't doing it to piss pc gamers off...they just don't get enough business from us to make it worth it. Stop taking things like this personal lol...

That's sad, but it's pretty common place for games like this to go unnoticed on PC, hell even the reviewers ignore them, there's 21 critic scores for 360 version and 2 for PC version. If I was a gamestore owner I wouldn't keep Wheelman(PC) on the shelf either, because people simply don't buy that stuff. But just order online, I'm not sure how it works in that part of the world but where i live there are dozens of smaller private companies that have all the pc games you could ever hope for and they'll drop the game in your mailbox in few days.

Of course I don't take it personally.... I couldn't care less. I guess I just miss the old days where the whole shop was PC and a little section to Playstation or Sega. I know I can get the games online (ebay, steam, online stores), but I MISS the act of going to the shop.... having a look around at all the different boxes.... talking a while with the guy about each game....then buying one and taking it home. But like another person here said....even that's gone. Most of them are just normal retail salespeople who don't even know what a PC is. Good old days are gone I guess...
