yaaa.. i'm not sure i like the new look to things. I hope it's optional to play this versionbluetadomonkIt's an entirely new game.
I am hoping this is mainly for consoles at the moment, it doesn't look bad or worse when compared to CS:S but I was hoping a bigger increase in graphics. After all I've been waiting for this game since 2004. Animations and models are also a bit off, probably because it has lots of time to be fixed.

What, why? This is not Counter Strike 2. Its only a improved version of CSS. And it does look far better.
You need to refresh your memory, it looks better, graphics slightly, artistically way above. If people expect better graphics and animations they clearly don't know about Valve.Looks worse than Source to me. I wont fully judge it til I play the beta though.

These are all brand new assets... there's no excuse for models and animations to be sub-par. It doesn't matter if it's all about the "gameplay" or not, I was still expecting a lot more. Previous versions of CS may have never been about graphics, but they always looked good for their time. I was happy with the graphical step-up from CS to CS Source. This just makes me go :|
As an example, look at the new Tribes game. Tribes was never about graphics either, but damn does the game look pretty.
Of course it does, it's a Source game. All I can say is, I hope to God the PC version gets mods.

The gun and hand model and animations look fugly.the_ChEeSe_mAn2
Pretty sure CS was the only time I truly sweated bullets when I played competitively :PLooks fantastic. I'm really excited on the emphasis on 5 v 5 play with the matchmaking. So few people have gotten to experiance how competitive CS can really be.

[QUOTE="trastamad03"]Valve made this...? It looks... terrible. What's up with the weapon/hand animations and the modelling? DanielDustNope, Valve didn't.http://store.steampowered.com/app/1800/ It is Valves work...
You're asking if Valve did it then go against answers with actual facts? good job...
It's not Valve, it's Hidden Path, the guys that made Defense Grid and the massive patch for CS:S that brought achievements and the engine update among other features.
Valve is only checking what they do, the actual development isn't done by them, except new ideas and changes that need to be developed.
Then Hidden Path needs to find better model artists and animators, because the gun models and the hands look awful. Looks more like a mod than a product made by a professional studio. You're asking if Valve did it then go against answers with actual facts? good job...

Looks fine, besides, they don't really need to impress, the CS series isn't exactly decent when it comes to animations, by far the worst from games that are still popular but yet they're still here, gameplay matters and as long as "looks" aren't below the predecessor, it's all good.DanielDustI just find that they look stiff and just...boring. I prefer the current CSS ones by a long shot.
So you're telling me this looks bad? bad how? a game doesn't have to look "superb" to be playable or enjoyable (Portal 2 is by far the best game released so far and most likely in the entire year, is it half the game Crysis 2 is? not even 1/4, but artistically it's superb and looks fantastic) and animations are just fine considering the game, don't see what's so off about them.DanielDustI can't quite place what I dislike about them, just overall the game looks rather sub-par. If the graphics were unimportant, why re-do them at all? Why not use the previous assets? It's obvious some effort was made to refresh the graphical quality, but I'm not sure it was done very well. CS Source might not look like much today, but it looked good for its time, and lasted on its gameplay. Same with CS. None of its assets looked bad during its initial release and subsequent version upgrades. I'm just confused all-around. On one hand, I get the impression that Valve doesn't care so much about the Counter-Strike franchise. Leaving this to another developer instead of doing everything in-house. Yet I'm sure they want to expand the franchise by releasing it across multiple platforms and allowing cross-platform play. If this is a big release for them, I feel they should've spent more effort on artistic quality. Also, CS maps were pretty barren at the time because of the technology. It took a lot of extra resources to add in all the details, props, extra stuff to make the maps more believable. And now the maps are barren.. just because. It's Counter-Strike. They could've easily retained the same gameplay but boosted up the level of detail to be at least *on par* with today's games. I'm sure I'll still get it, just right now I'm a little underwhelmed.

PS3/PC/Mac cross platform. 360 is left out because of MS.When it states cross platform, I assume it is referring to PC/Mac? Or is it really meaning across even into consoles? (PS3 maybe?)
