I've played Counter-Strike for a while and I noticed there are three main profiles which can describe player's combat styles (a combination of weapons and tactics).
To elucidate on that here are the profiles I am referring to:
Assault
Players who lean towards assault tend to take the opposition "Head-On" and mostly favour using Carbines (AK47, Colt, Bullpup, Commando, FAMAS & Galil), Shotguns (M3 Super 90 & XM1014) and Machineguns (M249). Assaulters are specialists in both Firefights and Skirmishes. The ultimate skill in Assault would more or less involve taking out opponents with knife-kills (Front on) while recieving little damage if none at all.
Marksmanship
Players who lean toward marksmanship tend to eliminate opponents from affar and favour (Primarily) Rifles (SiG, G3/SG-1, Scout & AWP) and Carbines. Marksmen are known for "Deadly" Accuracy, excel in Long Range Combat and can also act as "Spotters". For Snipers the ultimate skill would be to eliminate opponents with a "Snapshot" (Single Round Headshot Kill without aiming) using any firearm.
Reconnaissance
Players who lean toward Reconnaissance tend to take on opponents up close while trying to draw little attention and generally favour Sub-Machineguns (MP5, UMP, P90, TMP & MAC-10). Recons are masters of both "Close Quarters Combat" (CQC) and above all Stealth, they too can also act as "Spotters". A Recon's ultimate skill involves elimination all opposition with knife-kills whilst maintaining the "Element of Surprise".
Then of course you have players who can lean toward various combinations of these profiles.
For example:
25% Marksmanship, 30% Reconnaissance and 45% Assault.
