I know this isa long read but I really need help. I don't want to spend over a grand on s system thatwont work well for me. Thank you so much for your time and help.

I recently purchased a Sony Vaio that I love. However, the only thing I don't like about the computer is that it onlyhas an Intel X3100 video chip that has no dedicated memory and has to share with the rest of the system. The Vaio's spec's are: Intel Centrino Duo T7300 at 2.0ghz. 800mhz front side bus and 2 gigs of ram running at what I believe is 665mgz or something to that effect. It has a 160gig hard drive runnig at 5400RPM. Furthermore, it has a 14.1 inch screen that is pretty amazing.

Because I've heard from other people that integrated video chips are not all that good and that dedicated video chips are the way to go, I decided to purchase an HP that came with a dedicated video chip. However, the HP only came with a 200 gig hard drive running at 4200RPM. To be honest, I've noticed the difference in hard drive speeds and I contact HP to see if I could upgrade to a faster hard drive. They informed me that according to there database, this particular model did not support a hard drive running anything faster than 4200RPM. Does anyone know if this is accurate? Was the HP rep confused or was he correct? Can i put a 5400RPM hard drive in this computer? Could this be possible, that this computer with some pretty amazing specs other than the slow hard drive, only supports a hard drive of MAX 4200RPM? That just seems very odd to me to have such a slow hard drive and not allow an upgrade.HP specs are: Intel Centrino Duo T7500 at 2.2Ghz with a 800mhz front side bus. It has 2 gigs of ram running at what I believe is 665mhz or something like that. It has a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS processor with 128 dedicated memory.

My question is, should I stay with the Sony or should I go with the HP? I guess it's a trade off. A faster hard drive or a faster video card. Which one is more crucial? I kind of like the looks and feel of the Sony more but I want to go with the system thats going to give me the most speed and options.I don't plan on playing many games on my new system but would love to edit movies and deal with picture editing and possible high def stuff. Thanks for the help.
