The preview debuts the first two screens from the game, showing off a lush city park (complete with benches, trash cans, and plenty of trees) and a decimated city street.
There's also an interview with the game's Executive Producer, Nathan Camarillo, which includes highlighted phrases like "far from tropical" and "increased verticality."
"Mind-blowing new direction"
I am REALLY EXCITED now:shock:
Cant wait, I loved the first one and Warhead.
One of the things that makes me laugh the most is when people say Crysis was only good graphics. IMO the gameplay, sound editing and controls where fantstic. Not to mention it has one of the best editors of all time.

OH MY! theyre taking it urban!?! By "verticality" I am assuming skyscrapers, building, neighborhoods; imagine running accross rooftops, too, with speed and strength mode!
Oh man i am soooo stoked.
I'm waiting on my issue of PC Gamer, man cant come soon enough...
wasnt able to play the first crysis or warhead in all its glory but hopefully i'll have a new pc by the time this one is out...
you know, so i can fail to run it maxed out again... heh
jokes aside though, urban environment with the cryengine, cant wait!
They better increase the A.I. and difficulty. I was able to beat it on Delta in the first or second week. I'd expect to get my arse handed to me with Crysis 2 on the hardest setting.
But that's what Far Cry 2 said :PThe preview debuts the first two screens from the game, showing off a lush city park (complete with benches, trash cans, and plenty of trees) and a decimated city street.

Sooooo looking forward to this game.
The only thing we need to be concerned about, really, is the story. Everything else; the gameplay, the mechanics, the engine, the animation; will be top class! German-style :D

Crysis and Warhead were boring after the first playthrough imo, i only use it as a benchmark now. Have a laugh on me! :) Anyway, i will probably buy it when it comes out to see how much it has improved. Shame it couldn't stay as a pc exclusive though.
Crytek could just focused on improving the A.I. and I'll be satisfied, however I will be disappointed if you're still able to exploit the easy A.I.

now that's something to look forward to. let's see how well Crytek can handle urban warfare. :)
I'm with all the Crysis fanboys in here, I can't wait for Crysis 2. It's gonna be intimidating, though, we're gonna need some serious hardware to play this game. I also agree with Kozzy1234, Crysis was much more than just great graphics. The whole suit was so cool, as were the weapons and vehicles. Crysis 2 is gonna be pretty intense, I'm sure. I hope they put a strong focus on multiplayer, as well!kraychikWith the game coming to consoles? I doubt it, i mean how superior the graphics can possibly be on pc so we gonna need EVEN better hardware, crysis on cryengine 2 look better than cryengine 3 and it requires far less resources than many other games such as gta iv, arma 2 or cryostasis!!

Just because the game is coming to console doesn't mean Crytek isn't going to max out the PC version of the game. How do you figure the engine for Crysis to be superior to the engine to Crysis 2 when all that's available is a 2 minute teaser trailer? You're making a big assumption that the game won't be resource-demanding simply because console versions will also be released.

CryEngine 2 doesn't support Light Propagation Volumes nor Global Ilumination nor procedural destruction in concrete elements as barriers, and the max amount of light sources at time was around 20 in some areas from the Core level -alien spaceship- whereas CryEngine 3 supports GAL and thousands of light sources at times, I'll suggest you to see some vids:

Also, Crysis stuff without GI and LPV:
The same Crysis scene WITH GI and LPV:
Also, CE3 uses some form of deferred rendering, so the engine will be more efficient. The PC version will look much better than the original Crysis or Warhead, for sure, as the "Next Gen Ready" parts from the "CryEngine 3 Beauty Speed Interaction" suggest:

Nar I'm with you on that one mate, they made the exact same mistake that they did with FarCry and that was introducing an enemy that wasn't any fun to play against.
I hope they've hired a script writer lol :P Like Mario said: fix the AI. If the AI is more reactive this could be a great game, rather than just a very good one. biggest_loser
They hired an acclaimed canadian writer that wrote an early draft of Homeworld 2's story. He also got arrested a couple of days ago.
About the A.I. criticism: I think that the one in Crysis -an specially in Warhead- is better than the one in Far Cry -no lame headshots at half mile of distance from your antagonist-, that was one of the finest A.I. at his time. Please, try to play Warhead campaign in delta without the use of cloack power -that is the key factor about the erratic behavior from the enemies that players usually rant about- and tell me then how "bad" or "weak" is.
In my last running through Warhead I was able to do the campaign in delta using only 6 savings (6 deaths) after a lot of attempts, but I was helped by the use of the cloack in key moments. Without the cloack, or the regenerative armor, or the free saving the game would be as hard as Far Cry in realist mode. Is not, because the helps is far more easier, but try to fight constantly in "Rambo style" and you will find your ass kicked in more than one time.
The AI has memory. Throw a rock and they'll go and investigate the sound. Throw another one and they'll move to that one, then they'll get back to the previous search.
It's completely dynamic, as opposed to FEAR's AI (which is just an illusion) or Half-Life's, which always knows where you are. Of course it will fail sometimes, but it's one of the best AI in an action game.

I hope that doesn't effect development. I'd love a decent story this time around...You compare crysis with the old masterpieces? Please you cant be serious. Deus ex and half life are vastly superior pc games!!dakan45
Crysis, Deus Ex, HL/HL2 --- all among my favorite PC games of all time! They each excel very differently as first person shooters, however, these are among the absolute best games I've ever played anywhere, at any time, on any system. Definitely personal favorites.
Never considered the AI in Crysis a problem, in fact, during my time playing it I thought it was decent given the scope of it's emergent shooter gameplay.
Again not a "problem" and adequate IMO, however, as an area for mention of improvement it would be nice to have a story that matched the fantastic quality of the gameplay -- assuming Crysis 2 has great gameplay of course. Although I personally play Crysis for the SP, Crysis 2 could certainly benefit from more appealing MP as well.
Multi-platform development is a concern, but of course that doesn't absolutely dictate Crysis 2 won't be a great PC game. "Increased verticality" sounds exciting though! Hopefully adding another dynamic and element of creativity to the sandbox combat (assuming it's retaining that direction). Looking forward to the next PCG issue.
But at the same time it isn't dynamic at all because you can blow up a truck outside a base and the AI never seems to hear it in a nearby building. That was disappointing for me. Not reactive enough. The AI has memory. Throw a rock and they'll go and investigate the sound. Throw another one and they'll move to that one, then they'll get back to the previous search.

Crysis already had a superb gameplay system, i wonder how much a 2 one will improve. I hope they don't stray away much from the jungle, fighting and engaging in the middle of the forest was one of the most autentic experiences ina game those last years. I got say it will be nice to have some cities; every game i play (that is not crysis) makes me wonder how would it have been if it were made in cryengine, often concluding it would be way more awesome.
