@Charmingcharlie, yep I just saw the ending again, but that's even worse, going back to the same island just for the sake of the story, they can't change anything other than the sky which should be ice and a frozen island that's exactly the same, maybe with some destruction here and there. I too want to know what happened to Prophet, but not like this, he deserves something like Warhead a standalone expansion, not an entire game, sadly Crytek went straight to Crysis 2.DanielDust

Oh I don't know they could've done something very interesting with revisiting the island (not saying the whole game should be set there mind you). Imagine Nomad and Psycho going back into the freeze shield, first they would have to negotiate a nuclear wasteland to get to the shield then on entering the shield they could've discovered the island was being terraformed for the aliens (the freezing part was the first part of the process). You could then have Nomad catch up with prophet who has discovered the location of the aliens power source etc etc.

But to just ditch the whole Crysis story and go "hey we are in New York now lets go and see a show on broadway" is incredibly lame in my books

people care because the first game ended on a cliffhanger and want a bit of continuity not because of any great love for the storyMacutchi

Exactly it is all about the continuity of the story, most stories in games are pretty god awful but there is some enjoyment to be had from them and that just gets crapped on when they write themselves into a corner like they have with Crysis. I half expect the cut scene to explain what happened at the end of Crysis will be Nomad getting out of the shower and saying "hey that was a cool dream I had where I fought Aliens on a tropical island".

Well, if you didn't care for the story or the characters, why care what happens next? If Crytek did indeed hire professional writers and it's giving the story more importance in Crysis 2, then distancing themselves from the original is the way to go. The crutch that is the first game's story is the last thing Crysis 2 needs.

its about gameplay, its a game afterall. Not a movie, a game. I kept playing because I was having a blast, It seems people are forgetting the point.

This should have been Crysis 2 but instead they seem to have ditched the original story and replaced it with a bleak yet colorful New York being terrorised by totally different aliens.neyney23

Has it been officially said that they're different aliens this time? I think they may actually be the same aliens just using different tech from what they used in the first game. In the latest trailer the player does a stealth takedown on one of the aliens in those bipedal mecha suits, and looking at the parts where the suit doesn't cover the flesh around the neck and head, it looks like the alien inside is still one of the squid-like aliens from the first game.

well its opinion, but in the first you could grab someone and throw them through a building for example. The powers were less powerful, which made it more interesting to try and use them for me. Being overpowered completely changes the game.TerrorRizzing

You can still grab people and toss them in Crysis 2.

Where are you getting the powers being more powerful this time around from? I haven't seen anything that's suggested the suit is overpowered now.

[QUOTE="TerrorRizzing"][QUOTE="dakan45"][QUOTE="TerrorRizzing"] while I don't agree with some of the your positives, I will say that the game is atleast different than the first.

I dont understand how kicking someone with strength on is not something that is better that what you could do with strength in the first game. What i am saying is that perhaps we are not seen what you can do in crysis 2 and that is crytek's fault for not showing us those things but just like it happen last time we will find out plenty of usages on our own.

Overpowered? Well in comparison with the first, yeah but depends, when big bad ass alien mehs are stepping on you, you gonna wish you were more powerfull. Also i like the fact that now i am gonna have good guns and not use the crappy korean ak ripoffs because scar is out of ammo.

People game for different reasons, you obviously find the game play mechanics the most important aspect of a game, others will find the graphics are the most important aspect and some like me will find the overall story to be of great importance. I don't want to play games that just have endless levels of "game play" I want a story to explain why I am going through all these levels. I want to go "hm just one more level so I can see what happens next in the story line".

I actually didn't have a problem with the storyline in Crysis, I mean sure it wasn't about to win any Academy awards for best screen play or anything but it wasn't as bad as most are making out here. Any way it looks as if they are removing pretty much the only reasons why I enjoyed the original Crysis so I can't say I am all that hyped for it. It just comes across as another generic linear on the rails shooter now and that automatically relegates it to a bargain bin purchase in my books.

^ I play for the experiance, so far i like what i have seen in crysis 2, new york, good scripted moments, mechs and a good scriptwriter for the story. That tells me its gonna be a great experiance. I prefer linear fps over nonlinear because the experiance is better driven to show you the things they want to show you, like a movie. Anyway thats why i play.

Im not worrying with crysis or crysis 2 until I upgrade to the HD6 series from ATI, but hey, that just means I get the first 2 crysis games for real cheap... and play them at great quality and fps...

Im not letting myself get all hyped up about games much anymore, they seem better that way. Less to expect more to get surprised by.

I have high expectations from Crysis 2, since the first one was really good in my opinion. From only trailers I can't judge the game, the setting isn't bad, but I preferred the huge island of the first Crysis.

I'm really looking forward to it, the only thing that i disliked was like my foreposters already mentioned is, that the game until now really looks like it is focused too much on the alien setting, I hope that they will mix it

There are humans allright, i dont see why you guys worry about, my guess is that either it will have aliens on the later parts or that it will be mixed. The only reason we belive it will be more alien focused is because of the gameplay we have seen which is from aliens mostly.

I sadly haven't played Crysis original, so my impressions of the series are somewhat limited and certainly not particularly well informed. From what I have seen, Crysis 2 could still be a great game, but only if it maintains certain aspects. For example, I would fear if the gameplay was strickly too linear and scripted, because most other games out there are like this. If there are large sections of downtown Manhattan that are damaged and explorable in a kind of Cloverfield-esque way, I would be up for that. However, if the game constantly forces me down one street after another with no room to maneuver, then it would be the same as most other urban warfare games, and you might as well be playing the later levels of Modern Warfare 2. Integrating the freedom of exploration from Crysis into Manhattan would be a great idea: I'm just not sure if they've actually done it. It's too early to tell at this point.

Nonetheless, it will certainly look beautiful. Grand Central Station in that trailer certainly did... Before the MetLife Building collapsed onto it. :P
