it makes certain objects look glossy and environment is blurry and bright thats it imo, the lighting in DX11 was top notch photo-realistic anywayWhat we were waiting for....???

The mod looks amazing but it wont make me re-install crysis 2.
I will wait until the modders make a real sequel to crysis.
Yeah thats right I want a game with huge islands and gameplay which makes you plan your attacks.
Until someone mods crysis 2 to that point,it does not exist for me.It is nothing but a call of duty game set in the future.
That looks very ugly. All they did was increase the contrast, Crytek and their DX11 patch still did the majority of the graphics tech, these wannabe modders should get absolutely no credit.ocstew

It seems in some areas they did a good job with new textures and what not, but also a lot of it does look like they just messed wth the contrast. I'm really sick of seeing mods mnaking things really light and dark and calling it a realism or ultra mod or something. Obviously lighting in an important part, but I've never looked at the sky and seen it white. Ther sky has colour and these mods fail to do that, and it just reflects poorly into other parts of the game world (as I said making things extra bright or dark).[QUOTE="ocstew"]That looks very ugly. Agree that is a better representation of what the mode has achieved and it does look way better to. Crysis 2 just seemed to be so linear in its approach play "cheating" you into thinking that the play area was bigger than it actually was with vertical layers but in all a small play area. Whereas with Crysis approach play was vast and wide perfectly suited to its environment. For that reason Crysis 2 was a slight let down.
someone should make a physics mod and stuff so that way when I bring my gaming PC to my cousins house who has Crysis 2 for PS3 I can humilate him

This mod doesn't come anywhere near beating Crytek's work. All they did was change the TOD, something I could do and have done in 5 seconds.Looks nice and all that, but the graphics dont make the game any less boring or linear. I uninstalled Crysis 2 less than a week after I baught it and have no incentive to reinstall even for the DX11 patch or this, I just didnt enjoy the game and the graphics mods wont change what I dont like about it.

It's more than a simple TOD change. Look at the screen shots carefully. You aren't going to get those kind of results by upping contrast ratios. A lot of texture work went into that. If you think it's easy and they put little to no work into it, please replicate it something like that on your own. I'd love to see what kind of garbage you can come up with. Either way, it's much more appealing to look at than the default Crysis 2.[QUOTE="DigitalExile"]

Look at the edges of the shadow in the pic you posted, they are SOFT not sharp. There's gradiant between lit area and shaded area. Also, the shadow being cast is from a shorter distance, rather than a tree's shadow which is cast from a longer distance which disfigures the shadow and makes it blurrier.Shadows are supposed to look like this.[QUOTE="Diophage"]

Ok, well, then for me, Default Crysis 2 shadows are fine. To each their own I suppose.I just did a playtest of the mod and it doesn't look all that different. The texture work is great, the ground seems much sharper and cracks etc are more detailed and pop out more.Except for the fact that all pictures on walls and advertisements around the city now have naked girls or scantily clad women on them,But the lighting doesn't look much different. Everything does seema bit clearer though like most smoke in certain areas is gone but thats not really better so to speak. The shadows look worse than the dx11 soft shadows. Shadows aren't that sharp in real life despite what people say. The soft ones are better. But also cos they are less complex I got a slight performance boost. The fire is also red in a lot of areas. Which looks really bad and stands out too much. Overall its not that great. But definitely props to the texture guy.
It's just not fun without Super Strength and Super Speed mode :(Meh, it maybe Technically the best looking game of all time. But its still nowhere near as fun as the original Crysis!

I made a copy of my Crysis 2 folder so I can play both versions. I like certain things about the mod, like how it finally blocks out the stars/moonlight as you can't see those very well, if at all in NYC. Also the high-res textures are actually high-res. But the shadows are too overdone.
Too bad the game will never be as great or nearly as fun as the original crysis.

Yeah some things are nice but the high contrast makes it blindingly bright outdoors in some scenes. Night time looks better. The high res texture REALLY pop. But there are stupid porn pics everywhere in it. Like when you go into hargreav's mansion all his pictures on the walls and the laptop monitors,tv screens all have naked girls on them. Its very tacky.

The contrast is plain annoying though.
Crysis, Crysis: Warhead, and Crysis 2 were the most generic FPS games I've ever played.theafiguy

I shouldn't have said generic, I should have said repetitious and linear. There was openness, sure, but it wasn't exactly alive. Warhead was a joke in every regard, that game was the definition of linear, for a modern day FPS at least.

Honestly sounds like you've never played more than 3 FPSes the way you put it.

No, I have, but I don't find many games actually innovate. Call of Duty 4 did one thing right (multiplayer) and Crysis definitely pushed the bar for graphics, but it was just a boring game beyond that, similar to how CoD4 would have been boring without the MP. theafiguyCrysis was a highly innovative in its own right. The game was an extension of the Far Cry school of design - freeform FPS gameplay, however Crytek pushed this further not just with the inclusion of better technology that was able to realise a more complex intractable playing space, but their nanosuit design which allowed players to quite literally change their playstyle on the fly; and the game itself would adapt to changes. Everything was an extension of this for most of the part - until the game popped itself on rails and lost all common sense in the final act. It actually did that all remarkably well, Crysis 2 however took much of that (and what had been done in Warhead) and scaled it back substantially, with much more of a focus on narrative. I'd honestly say while the game wasn't bad it failed; it didn't refine, nor did it enhance. Now Warhead was a damn good game; it was different to the first in regard of not offering a level as a 'scenario of options' rather 'action bubbles' - self contained set pieces where the player was given a reasonably high degree of freedom - such as the 'on rails' train level, where the player can abandon the 'on rails' action entirely and run about as they see fit. It also had a stronger focus on narrative (and action based gameplay), difference is it hit that middleground far better than Crysis 2 did.
Is this Doom 3, or is it Crysis 2? WHO KNOWS?
The mod is bollocks, and that's an objective truth. It crushes blacks, burns whites. destroys the contrast and the mood, adds random textures because LOL WHY NOT, adds crap shadows and chicks in bikini instead of advertisments.
There is a fix in the mod's Crymod thread for the excessive contrast for those of you that are bothered by it (myself included).
ZimpanX
The contrast is still all over the place even with the fix. Outdoors are blinding white, some indoors are far too dark. Most of the night time scenes are very obscurely dark. Its a nice attempt at modding considering what a joke the editor turned out to be but I don't think it really adds anything to the game visually
I tried it and liked it. It makes it look 100% more interesting than dull and boring config it is now.
Still the mod somehow managed to break my game. I can't shoot anything and all I can do is melee attack. Good thing I used this on a copied folder of crysis 2.
I had fun with that game and yes it was a very nice looking game but it was missing the heart that crysis 1 had and never felt as fun as crysis 1 did hopefully they will make crysis 2 more like the first.

Changing textures still does not come near "beating" what Crytek did. One thing that annoys me the most, is when people give WAY too much credit to unskilled modders who do very little.[QUOTE="ocstew"]

I'm guessing you've never touched Crysis 2 DX11 then? Crysis 2 has, by default realistic shadows. Making everything sharp, whether the shadows be miles away or right in front of you is not realistic.
