Agreed, although it may have more to do with the body type of Nomad vs. Alcatraz.

Making the protagonist an impossibly over-muscled bodybuilder is a really juvenile design choice for a soldier. I internally roll my eyes every time I see the character.

I think the exact opposite. The first felt like they were making a cheap tv show and they put an actor in spandex. The second feels more like an actual suit that use nanobots to change the size of the muscles and armor. Looks more solid like the armor is tougher.

The suit is like that to fit the mould of a human. It's not an anime or Street Fighter styled muscley macho man.
