Figure someone would of shared these by now. Nevertheless, it looks like Crysis.

Because the first one was poorly right? :/ Thanks for those scans, looks awesome.hope they optimize the game better than the first one ...

Hm... after hearing it was going to be in an "urban jungle" i was intriuged, the fact it was in new york didnt bother me either, but after seeing these screens i am a tad dissapointed.
But then again they are just some scans of a magazine, im sure the game will look great.

Hmm without the lush jungles, the game doesn't really seem that better looking from the first (if at all).. But then again, these ARE scans and I'm not saying that the game doesn't look good, it looks fantastic. Just expected to be WOWED a bit more I guess?

Before to start to blame you must known than aside the center screen in the second picture in ALL the other images involving the nanosuit 2.0 the model of the character is the ultra-high-poly version in 3DMax, Maya or whatever, while the rest of the enviromnents are from in-game settings.
If a model with a dozen of millions of polygons (that will not be so good in the game) in the promo pics doesn't impress you then you then something is wrong here...

It was well-optimized for me! In any case, these are some great looking screens! I look forward to getting this and hopefully Crytek will put out a special edition again.spiderman120988It is optimized for lower-end system, but for high-end system it is meh.

Hopefully with DX11's Compute Shader and optimized ram access, we will see far better scalability and more efficient use of powerful systems. The problem is they are simultaneously developing for the lowest common denominator and very high end system at the same time.

Yawn.

1. It's on consoles.
2. It's set in a broken down version of NYC (much like the broken down city in Gears of War).
Those are the two main factors I was hinting at. I'm really going to miss the jungles because they could have done so much more with it. I don't see the city being very interactive or destructible, but I hope I'm proven wrong. City battles just aren't interesting to me compared to jungle warfare.

I think the destroyed city environment could be done very well, though i do admit, jungle warfare seems more interesting. Well, there's always central park. :p[QUOTE="THA-TODD-BEAST"][QUOTE="AAllxxjjnn"] What do you mean?AAllxxjjnn

There were a lot of areas in Crysis and Warhead where there weren't many palm trees around for you to shoot down.Notice literally every tree in that screenshot is the type of tree that couldn't be broken in Crysis or Crysis Warhead.

They have a procedural destruction system. Anything that they want can be designated as a destructable object. They were asked about skyscrapers and said that yes, it's possible if they want to implement it. I bet we'll see something like that, the opportunity is way too big for CryTek to miss it.
The scale of some of those pictures is fantastic.
If it's also coming on console then the game willpale in comparison to Crysis. To have the exact same if not better effects than the first one and on console as well, then they would've had to pull out some magic trick. Which devs tend not to do these days.
What scares me is they are very focused on console, thus I can't see PC version well optimised, and patches and support will be slow. The reason they didn't sell that many on PC was not because there aren't many PC players, but because at the time you needed a monster rig to run it.

No way that will happen since it's going to be on consoles. PS3/360 couldn't render all of that physics and post processing all at once. Well they could, but it would be some scary frames/second.I think the destroyed city environment could be done very well, though i do admit, jungle warfare seems more interesting. someone is in a negative mood today, lol.Is it me, or is the game really bright? :? urghDante2710
They are using the bloom trick; you use bloom or a similar lighting to make it ultra bright, so blinding that people can't see the bad textures.
It's on consoles now so it's going to be downgraded. Whoever thinks other wise is idealistic.
So is this a continuation of the previous Crysis story? Because frankly, the previous story was kind of lame and boring, especially the the aliens or whatever they were. If this is about those things attacking NYC, then I'm not really excited about it.
Qixote
It's a video game, only the Rule of Fun should matter.
It you want a heavy scifi game why don't you just also make it super realistic were you have to manually pick up ammo. More realism means more fun, right?

Um, why did you make the jump from story to realism? I said nothing about the realism in Crysis. So I didn't particulary care for the aliens in Crysis and wish for a different direction in Crysis 2, crucify me.[QUOTE="THA-TODD-BEAST"][QUOTE="AAllxxjjnn"] I think the destroyed city environment could be done very well, though i do admit, jungle warfare seems more interesting. someone is in a negative mood today, lol.No, I'm not being negative, I'm just making observations that seem to add up when you look at the big picture.
Here is a little "checklist" just as an example:
The game is coming to consoles. Check.
Chances are it will be toned down in one way or another because of that. Check.
Therefore you would come to expect less destruction. Check.
The trees in the screenshot were also found in Crysis and Warhead, but none could be destroyed. Check.
The game is set in a city, and cities are rarely destructible in games because of their size and sheer amount of content. Check.
It really all adds up to show us that rather than going for a destructible environment, this time we'll be seeing more emphasis on combat in environments that are stable (except for items such as trash bins, street lamp posts, etc.). This is not fact, obviously, but this is what I'm thinking is going to happen based on my own observations, and it makes perfect sense, too. Now I realize that the Frostbite engine on consoles has already shown a great deal of destruction and that has worked out great, but this is a different engine and I don't think it will scale so well to be able to add all the fancy destruction effects on consoles. At least not to the extent we've seen in the Bad Company and even Red Faction games.
I don't mean to anger anyone or sound negative, because I'll definitely still play this game, no doubt about it. I just have my doubts about the destruction we saw in the previous two titles. Cities being destroyed would be incredibly taxing on any system. Just think of the number of buildings and structures that could be damaged, and if many of them were damaged in a single play-through. It would at the least have to be broken into separately-loaded "sections" just to maintain performance.
I'll stop ranting for now, but again, these are just my observations and estimates. Carry on. :)

CE3 scales perfectly and automatically. It literally adjusts everything created on PC in a matter of seconds to run on consoles. Their new streaming technology is also supposed to be revolutionary.
Crytek is like a second John Carmack. I'd never doubt them.
Check out this test level for Warhead, it gives an idea of the mood they're aiming for. It's made in the old engine, it's not finished and it's not made by the Frankfurt team that develops Crysis 2.

You wrote the key words here: Bad Company 2. Bad Company 2 is coming to both PC and consoles and by my experience in both betas the PC one blows away the cosole one, in visuals and performace. I find hard to understand how some people still thinks that Crysis 2 would not look even better than Crysis 1 in PC when you can see Bad Company 2 running maxed at 1680 x 1050 with X16 AF and AO at average 48-50 fps whereas in PS3 barely runs at 1280 x 720 at 30 fps or less with much worse texture quality and no AO. THe same with almost all ports. In fact, The only game sequel I known about that is worse technically in PC due the multi-platform developement ius F.E.A.R. 2, which lacks in some aspects as the soft shadows compared against the first game.
Crytek said that the game will take advantage in any platform and I'm sure that after 3 years and with the new hardware available the game will try to do a lot more things in the PC versions than Crysis and Warhead did.Plus, IMO CryEngine 2 is far away of his true capabilities in Crysis and the CryEngine 3 improvements in lightning and rendering will reach a new standard.

Everything is possible really. We have not seen some actual ingame screenshots. We dont know if the game will be console focused or if the pc version is gonna be far superior with better graphics and much diffirent control scheme and gameplay mechanics suck as lean. proning and tweaks in accuracy and damage in comparison with the console version. We dont know if its actually all that but also badly optimized. We really dont know anything to make assumptions. For example crysis 2 will be in a city. Wer dont know how big the levels will be and how much destruction will it be included. Did crytek mention anywhere that they going for insane destruction? One way or another they gonna have to balance the versions. You cant make the pc version look like the console versions are from a previous gen!! Also you cant really do all those things with gameplay and mechanics. There definetly will be some console aspects on the pc version. It is impossible to make the pc version so diffirent. No one can afford the time and money needed to make such changes and tweaks for the sake of the pc gamers. Also as you said. cryengine 2 is far from his true capabilities, what makes you think that cryrengine 3 will be anywhere near its true capabilities? The way this is going the true pc capabilities standards are gonna be lowered one way or another because of the consoles! Please Log In to post.
