Crysis is overated!

You guys are kidding right? Underrated? Maybe because people praise it less when compared to games such as Deus Ex or Far Cry. This game is a technological marvel, but IMO it is nothing more.

From what I've seen, this game is the most overhyped PC game of 2007. The gameplay is great (although I didn't find the nanosuit that awesome, like it was in the trailers), the graphics are superb but this game had no story.... In fact, the only thing memorable to me about the story was some weird accent the Korean general was given in Crysis Warhead.

The most overhyped PC game of 2007 is Hellgate: London.

Crysis is great. Almost perfect, imo. The sandbox nature united with the nanosuit made a marvelous game.

To each their own I guess, but for you to tell me I did not pay attention to the story is utterly false. I did pay full attention to the story, but I guess it just didn't grab me like other games such as Half Life. I am just wondering how the game is underrated if almost everyone in this thread say they love it, maybe you think it's "underrated" because half the people can't run the game so they decided not to buy it?

if its a technological marvel and its got great gameplay then that makes the game really good though, surely?

its the gameplay thats underrated - huge open destructible environments, multiple attack routes, great arsenal of customizable weaponry and great shooting mechanics, ability to use vehicles on land or sea, option of using stealth etc etc... the graphics were just the icing on the cake.

the first two thirds were just a pleasure to play, providing the freedom to go about things at your own pace and in your own style and then, in the final third, the game suddenly switches to a call of duty-like style - the pacing changes completely and its a rollercoaster of linear but blockbusting and intense action, all finishing with a gargantuan boss battle at the end. these two contrasting game styles are separated perfectly by the zero g alien ship stage, disorientating but spectacular.

the story was predictable but no worse than the majority of modern shooters. great game, one of the best ive played in the last 5 years

I have to agree with this guy, in comparison with deus ex and half life or system shock 2 and far cry and in comparison with the ratings it has....if anything crysis is overatted, i mean 9.5?

A game that has 9.5 while deus ex did not made it even to a 9.0 is definetly NOT underatted, how much more can a game get? 12/10!! :P

yea, i agree that it's quite overrated. technically, it's very impressive, sure. but in terms of gameplay it's not nearly as good as the original Far Cry. i'm especially surprised by how widely praised the AI is - to me it's borderline trash andunderminedso much potential of the game.
