Hi guys. I recently bought Crysis. After hours of trying to get the game to launch without crashing, I finally succeeded in getting the 32 bit version to run. The 64 bit version just stays on a blank screen and then crashes. Anways, thats not my problem since I've read that the 32 bit version performs just as good.

My problem is that the game runs like utter garbage. This is on the lowest settings at 800x600 without AA or any of that jazz. Also, the lighting effects looked messed up too. Here are my PC's specs:

- HP Media Center PC (M840f)

- Vista Home Premium

- 4gigs of ram

- Intel Q6600 Processor (Quad core 2.4GHz 64bit)

- Nvidia 8500GT

Now I know my video card is pretty weak but I was at least expecting the game to be playable. Its running like under 20fps almost all the time and is really choppy. Anyone have any solutions? And if my video card is too crap, can some reccomend one to me thats not crazy expensive. Remember, I would like to keep my TV tuner and crap so that the Windows Media Center works properly. I would also like HDMI on the card. Thanks in advance for your help!

Yeah... never try to run new games on a Media PC. The 8500GT is made for media only, you can get a 9600GT that will play it on high, that doesn't most much at all. It's about $160 NZD, so you could probably find it for $100 in the US somewhere.

Yeah that video card sucks, you can get a 8800GT really cheap now on newegg (around $120 dollars), with it you can get high settings at a 1280x1024 resolution.

Damn, those were some fast responses. Here are the results from can you run it like you requested "biggest_loser".

MINIMUM

RECCOMENDED

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v729/Silvia_Drift/reccomended.jpg

So I guess the consensus is that the 8500gt is too garbage. The current reccomendations are the Nvidia 8800gt and 9600gt as well as the ATI 4850. So which one of these have TV tuners and HDMI like my current 8500GT?

None of them have TV tuners on the cards, but the 9600gt has HDMI.

Hmm, can someone reccomend a card with a TV tuner? Also, I would like the composite and S-video inputs on the front of my case to keep working. Is this easily possible? Sorry for all the questions. I've been out of the PC hardware game for almost 6 years lol.

Yeah do that and download Cuban ultimate doom sword config or however that is said, it makes it run so much better, I just finished crysis in lvl 4 of the config with motion blur lvl3 depth of field, colorgrading and POM (doing that looks as good as very high without the useless stuff that makes it slow) enabled and it was impressive running at 30fps average on a 4850 and a e8400, check:

Bah, I'm an idiot. I just opened my PC and the TV tuner is a seperate card from the GPU. Anways, what do you guys think of this card:

Is it worth that kind of money or should I got for something else?

Yeah, that's why that site sucks, one time it tell me that i have to upgrade from a 8800GTS 512MB to a 8800GTS 640MB when everyone knows that the first one is newer and a lot better than the older 640MB (G80) version.

Yep, that's a pretty good card, just make sure your power supply has enough power to run that GPU.

I agree that the 8500GT is crap, but it should run bare minimum. A friend of my has a 8500M and a C2D 1.8ghz, but he runs WiC at a decent resolution with some settings on medium.

-Update Drivers

-Patch Game

-Disable Antivirus

-Defrag

-Make sure Nvidia Control Panel doesn't have AA or anything funky on

Your system with an 8500GT actually should run Crysis at all low at 1024x768, or 800x600 with some medium settings, and with playable frames. It definitely should handle the lowest possible settings. Not sure why you're getting such low framerate.

It runs great for me, cant get enough of the singleplayer in crysis. Also all the user made mods and levels are amazing aswell.

Got Crysis Warhead preordered and i cant wait to play that! Its suppose to be better optimized then crysis, and crysis ran nice for me so i cant wait to see warhead up and running!
