For now of course ...

but regardless, Warhead is incredible, I feel like a combat machine and the engine/weapons/enemies feel real deal and well produced. The world is incredible.

Much better than plain Crysis IMO, if you haven't played this game you seriously should buy it on Steam and give it a go. Maybe wait until you see it on sale, but even at $30 its easily the best single player straight action FPS games I've ever played and a great buy.

Speaking as someone who loves most types of games.

(can't wait for SWTOR, Borderlands, and ME2)

Yeah...no.

There are much better FPS games out there. Warhead is a great game, don't get me wrong, but it is definitely not the pinnacle of the genre. That title would go to something like Half-Life 2 or System Shock 2.

IMO, Crysis is nothing special. All it is is your average FPS game, the only thing it did different was the the power armor and the zero-g area and the zero-g area wasn't very big or long.

IMO, a better FPS game would be STALKER Original and Clear Sky as well as HL2 and Portal.

I'm sort of that way too but with the original crysis. Now that game is amazing in any aspect except music. Its hard for me to say it is the best shooter ever but definitley in my opinion the best shooter of the generation (Console generations).

Warhead is the most cinematic game I've ever played. You know that part where you follow the colonel with a hovercraft across the frozen sea? That's my favourite part. Although the first time I followed him on foot!

The pacing of Warhead is flawless. You can play as either a balls-to-the-wall shooter or very stealthily, and it's just as fun.

When I was enjoying cw the most.... bang finished the game. It was probably the shortest game I've ever played.

Need to give crysis wars a go, hopefully that will make up for it.

I didn't like Warhead as much as Crysis.

I got to the train part and then just stopped after a few deaths. i remember thinking. "OMG they literally put this shooter on rails..."

Crysis is short and sweet, very.. very sweet.

I definitly rank it up among my favourite shooters of all time, classing it as the pinnacle of shooters is very subjective really. You could say for instance it has the best graphics and physics for example, but it's really not gonna impact as much on shooters on a whole as say halflife did.

Bloody hell its so much better optimized than the original too, that ran like a dog on my rig, this one runs 60fps with max AA in enthusiast mode. I like very much.

agreed, baranga has it right about the flawless pacing in warhead but it was a bit stop start compared to crysis, like a series of great set piece levels wheras crysis felt more of an ongoing continuous journey and i preferred that.

if the flying bit was a bit better it would have probably been the closest thing to flawless ive played this gen

I see what you're saying, and the low price was great (for a full game, no less, however short), but Crysis was arguably better than Warhead. In terms of pure adrenaline/entertainment, I think they were about matched, but the overall quality of Warhead was lower. Not to mention that there wasn't really much use for having it be open-world.

It may be a great game, but if you think Warhead is the pinnacle of single player FPS games, then you need to play more single player FPS games.

Strange, coming from a guy so affiliated with The Witcher. I found its final battle much more "epic". It's a good shooter, but nothing like the first quality-wise. If you just want to have fun without having to sneak around, it's a lot funnier, although not as replayable as Crysis.

I think that Warhead has some nice improvements over Crysis campaign, as the more aggressive A.I, the more intense pace (more enemies per area and a lot more weapons and ammunition) but overall Crysis campaign still has better production values -much better cinematics-, better sense of story and more variety of environments and endurance.

I thinks that none of them are the best fps sp campaign ever, since the boss battle are a bit poor (main tactic repetitive: shot some rockets/gauss, evade lethal attacks covering yourself, kill a few drones, repeat... ) and some shooters has better screenplay (Undying, Riddick, Deus Ex... ) or atmosphere (S.T.A.L.K.E.R., System Shock... ) but overall experience is one of the best to me, together with Far Cry, RTCW and Quake 4. I really love the weapon customization on fly -a lot more than the nanosuit powers themselves-.

What Warhead improves a lot was also the multiplayer, now Crysis Wars, doubling the amount of maps, including a autodownloading and reworking in the balance. Sopme people like more the old one because it was harder: more hits to kill and more recoil, but imo now is a bit more accessible to rookies without changing the usual pro-players dominance.

Depends how old you are.

For me Doom2 or Unreal1 were of the best FPS ever. System Shock2 and Stalker best as FPS hybreds. For modern era standard FPS, yeah Crysis is tops; not Warhead due to its too much on rails feel.

I found it deathborring because i spent too much time in crysis, i got the same reaction in clear sky because its too much of the previous game and i will also get the same reaction of crysis 2 and stalker call of pripiyat are the same. Now that we clear that out, well yeah its a fun game propably the best singleplayer fps that was released Latelly, but the will propably change for me when cod mw2 comes out.....Yeah i know its linear and blah, blah, blah, but i was talking about the crowd not what the hardcore pc gamers think.

Well yeah but the first crysis warhead level felt more exotic, bigger, more like far cry levels, It felt more like a real area, The first crysis level was designed in a way that you follow a linear line and choose wherever you want to go to prophet or visit the secondary objective first, appart from that you just follow the road along the coast. Even when you find aztec, you will take a look around and you will see that you cant go anywhere else than forward. It didnt really feel like a real island, more like a level with geolgical constructed barries. But in crysis warhead a had more space and i run around a bit and see what i can find.

I don't know where you see STALKER as an RPG hybrid, inventory management is not that impressive. It's not the best FPS ever, it's a great experience, and that's it.

I agree it depends how old you are, eg for me: Half life, doom 2, quake 2, deus ex, system shock 2. Those were the best fps for me, everything else is just a fps for me, Oh and far cry that is not a game i would a call clasic fps, but it was the first game that did the outdoors levels right.

Crysis was an excellent game until I found out I need more than 3 gigs of RAM for it, especially outside on the aircraft carrier. One of these days I'll need to upgrade...

Up until that point, though, there was some great sci-fi shooter action. I have Warhead as well but was wanting to finish the original before playing it. Would it spoil the experience if I started Warhead before completing the original?

not at all

Warhead's plot is parallel to the original, its not a sequel or prequel, so no prior knowledge is needed.

Its also better optimized from what Ive read and experienced, so you should give it a try!

The online is simply fantastic, too

Warhead starts after the Crysis level "Assault" (4th) and ends just before Nomad arrives to the Carrier in the last Crysis level. No spoils.

i dont understand what was so innovative about hl2 other than the gravity gun. imo it felt kind of bland. i liked warhead a lot, you could take on an objective in any way you wanted, and i felt a lot more character connection than the original crysis

HL-2 isn't at the same level as the original Half-Life. Even de A.I. is better in the first one.

also, this. how could they downgrade the AI? hl1 is a far better overall game than hl2(especially since you have to have an AI follow you around so much in HL2/expansions).

I higly support this, hl2 was like half life till you reach black mesa east. By the time you got he gravity gun the game turned into a psychics game isntead of run and gun fps like the first, also the levels slowly start to decrease in quality and the game started to turn borring and when there was actual action it was filled with respawning combine enmies.. i mean come on... thats not half life. Both episodes are better for me. Ohh and i agree the commandos were much more powerfull and alive than the combine, plus the monster enemies were also cutting edge in behavior.

I am not through with Warhead just yet, but this game is fantastic. Action is a lot of fun, and it really gives me the feeling of being in an action movie. Explosions everywhere!
Imagine, grabbing a flammable barrel, running in front of a truck, throwing it, and then shooting it - then watch the explosions and the debris settle down.
Very very sweet. I definitely foresee a 10/10 for this from me.

There are many games I'd rather play over Crysis/Crysis Warhead.

The series has the best gfx (well actually I like ArmA2 better due to the large environments), but there are about 10 other FPS I would play before crysis.

[QUOTE="chandu83"]I don't know. To me, Crysis was a lot more fun than Half Life 2. Not saying Half Life 2 was bad. I just had more fun with Crysis. Zillaschool
I also found crysis a lot more fun than HL2.I didn't just understand what is so great about HL2.

I thought Half Life 2 was amazing, but Crysis was more.
