My computer is capable of running crysis on minimum settings. I do not have enough Video RAM to run the game on the recommended settings. Is it still worth it for me to pick the game up? Will the graphics still be breathtaking and is the gameplay fun, or is the game's only real claim to faim the graphics?

I have not done very much PC gaming at all, but this game interests me, mainly because I hear so much of the incredible graphics. It also got a 9.5 on GS, which few games do.

In short: Crysis still worth buying even though I can only run it on minimum?

One of Crysis' attractions is the great graphics but I would suggest still buying the game even though you can't run it that well. I find the suit that they wear to be the best part but the graphics sort of rounded it up but I am sure it will still be worth it.

On minimum settings I'd say don't bother.

I mean, Crysis is a (Edit: ) pretty good shooter, so it's not bad, but the graphics and physics really enhance the game mechanics and atmosphere. On lower settings I feel you'd be missing a lot of what makes it such a good game and you may come out thinking Crysis is a bad or boring game when it isn't at all.

I agree one of the attractions of Crysis is the visuals

but lets not forget that it is an amazing game. I turned down all my settings and resolution just to test my theory and its true, in my case: the gameplay is simply amazing, and worthy of being played at any resolution and any setting

I'm thinking I will pick it up eventually, then if I think it is worth it to spend $80 or so on a new Video Card then I will do that.

Im not trying to sound like a snob or anything, but any video card that costs 80 dollars is not worth it.

Set a budget for around 140 or so.

Its not really VRAM you need, this aint gta iv, even if you had a 8600gt 1024mb you wil still run it on medium buy 8800 gt 512mb would run it on high!! Anyway, pesonally i dont see whats so great about it, like you said not many games got a 9.5!! I dont think that the game worths that much, also since you say you are not much into pc gaming and you are interest because of the incredable graphics that you wont be able to experiance with your current hardware....i would say to skip it and get back to it when you are able to run the game with good graphics!! But anyway thats whay i think :)

That's a very good suggestions (You can get the demo here: http://www.crysisdemo.com/). I'd say as long as you can play the game at an acceptable frame rate it's worth it. Even without the graphics it's still a great shooter.

Warhead is better optimized, so its less demanding.

IMO the original Crysis is better because its less arcade like. Before you meet the aliens the gameplay is sublime....the aliens ruin the game from my point of view.

Well if your point of vie is less acrade and more tactical, ofcourse aliens will ruin the game for you, but form a cod player point of view, it makes the game more epic!!!
