[QUOTE="Elann2008"][QUOTE="SF_KiLLaMaN"]Maybe if they released any videos or pictures of the PC version this wouldn't have been as big of a problem...Baranga

Yeah, I don't know why it took them so long to release a story trailer. They decided to wait until the very last two months to release any worthwhile media. Wayta keep us waiting.

They said years ago, after Crysis was launched, that hype hurt the reception of the game and next time they'll make less noise.

I remember that, but how can hype hurt them if they're jumping into console territory? It's a different league for them now in terms of marketing and reaching out into a different market - which are more casual gamers. Hype could never hurt a game IF the developer is confident in their product. Maybe, they're not confident enough in their product to say, hey this is what we have for you and we know you will love it.

Compared to the PC, it's not easy at all. People charge money to get consoles "piracy ready"...why? Because it's hard enough that not every Joe Shmoe can do it. Conversely any 8 year old idiot can download and install torrent app and torrent to their hearts delight. Regarding "out of the box" the PC fits that pretty well. A couple programs is hardly modding anything, meanwhile most consoles require a chip or flashing drives or crap like that.

You also have to keep your firmware (if you just did flashing) up to date, and some consoles you risk having your console banned from online services.

Because it's totally difficult to find a guide and do what it says right?
And another thing people don't want to see, unlike pirate PC games, you can actually play online with these games on consoles. They say consoles aren't pirated. I say that's BS.

Yes for tech illiterate it is hard because it's not that easy at all and involves opening hardware, flashing bios, connecting special dongles, ect. Compare that to downloading a single program and just torrenting stuff you would have to be willfully ignorant to pretend it's not more difficult than on the PC.

I'm pretty sure the reason it's such a big deal on the ps3 is because all you need is a thumb drive.

Believe it or not but some people don't know what a torrent is.

And if people are that focused on pirating something they will find a way to do it regardless of their knowledge.

Geeze there must be something in the water lol. Nobody is saying people can't find a way, or that every single person on planet earth knows how to pirate even on PC...the FACT is it's a lot easier on the PC and requires a heck of a lot less knowledge or utilities.

That was my first thought upon seeing the thread, my first thought when the beta got leaked, was: Well, they wanted to give PC a demo. I mean, it's pre-release, it's not like someone copied the dvd that they or someone else bought, or someone had an early shipment of the game and did the same from a store, and posted it on the internet, it's a leak that the dev/publisher is to blame for.

I'm pretty sure my iPod was flashed in order to jailbreak it. That took all of connecting it via the USB cable and clicking 3 buttons. From what I've read, modifying consoles for piracy only requires being able to follow a simple guide. Besides, the newer generation(s) are getting more and more tech-savvy.

You're a reasonable person here on Gamespot so hearing that from you makes me a little worried. Unfortunately, my Xbox Live gold sub ran out in Jan and I just don't see any reason to re-sub because I haven't bought an Xbox 360 game since Halo Reach. Or else I would have tried the demo on XBL. Hmmm. I also find that even with multiplatform games, it feels and plays better on the PC platform. But that's just me. =)

I meant that they wanted to use this as an excuse for console only development. I didn't check the link but it turns our they are not abandoning PC development.

Anyway I still think the leak was intentional and I really hope that in the future they won't use this as an excuse for abandoning PC development.
