"Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition for PC will be available on August 24 in North America for download through Steam and Games for Windows. Special retail versions of the Prepare to Die Edition will be available in Europe and Australia on August 24 for the PC version."

Seeing as it will be on both Games for Windows and Steam, I'm going to go ahead and assume that it will use the LIVE system.

I'm still buying it Day One!. You lucky Aussies and Euros get to get a Physical Copy. :( I want one.

We've known that it will use GFWL for a while now. But it's nice to know that it has a release date. I've been thinking of checking this game out.

I'm glad to hear they're using Steam, though it shouldn't be surprising and extra glad the DLC is coming out on consoles as well.

I guess I'll have to play the DLC on New Game + because I am not waiting until Winter to beat my current game (yeah I've been playing it for a long time, I have my excuses for not yet beating it).

so glad its using GFWL, never had an issue and it gets me achievements. I own shadowrun, f12010, f12011, dawn of war, microsoft flight, dirt 2, dirt 3, batman AA, and batman AC all with GFWL and I have NEVER had an issue so **** all you people who complain its just stupid. Its like people who made fun of the zune, sure the first was was big and blocky but its software was always superior and the newer ones were way better than ipods. People just like to **** on microsoft for no reason.

I completely agree, ever since Halo 2 I've had no problems with GFWL.

I'm almost sure the Steam version will also require GFWL. It will be just like Fallout 3, or more recently, Gotham City Imposters. So achievements, multiplayer, community stuff will all be through GFWL even if you buy it on Steam.

To be honest, I never had any issues with GFWL since Halo 2 as well, Im glad and tankfull that Namco giving me the PC version and Im extra Tankfull that they giving me a choice to buy it on Steam as well so I can keep it organized with my other games in one place. all I can say is I hope its a good port and just works at a native 1920x1080p res and some basic graphical options, since I can add all the eyecandys from my Nvidia control panel. In the end I wanna say tank you NAMCO/BANDI and all the good people who made this happen.

Yeah that's completely the reason. Not that it's annoying using multiple layers of DRM or anything...or that your save files can easily become corrupted during an OS reinstall if you're not careful. Yep no legitimate reasons just blind microsoft hate.
