Dc universe is a very controversial game what do you think?

[QUOTE="FelipeInside"][QUOTE="Kaisos"] Why controversial?Kaisos
many people love or hate the beta.
Doesn't that happen with just about every Beta....lolAnyone that clicks WOW killer needs to get punched in the face.FightingfanHahahahahahah, classic !!!
I thought about getting this, the 2nd trailer on steqam look epic. Cool story they are rolling out. I want it to be fantastic but I am not getting my hopes up.

ToR will give it a run for it's money.... (GW2 maybe too) Anything "Killer" needs to just stop. It is used to essentially mean get more subscribers or sales than X game. But that's not what "killer" would mean now would it? To be a "WoW Killer" the new game would not only have to have more subscribers, but it would have to take away almost every single one of WoW's subscribers to effectively kill it.saying these terms are getting a little ridiculous. It like all the people that misuse "newb/noob".
Also, I am not sure I would say DC Universe is very controversial. I have heard people saying the like or dislike it, but that doesn't mean it is controversial.
I'll be shocked if it gets anything higher then a 7.0 from GS. I mean, honestly you can hit the level cap in 3 days.
I think the level cap in the BETA is lower than the actual game and you progress to it a lot faster so people can test the end game...I'll be shocked if it gets anything higher then a 7.0 from GS. I mean, honestly you can hit the level cap in 3 days.

Actually, I thought exactly the same Jango. With gameplay videos and screenshots the game graphics looked pretty basic....but once I played it, I was surprised at how well it looks (specially in the distance). Shame gameplay is not quite there....yet....I haven't played it, but I think it looks like garbage.

From what I've read the cap is still set at 30, and only takes at most a week to reach for most players. This is completely unacceptable for an MMO.I'll be shocked if it gets anything higher then a 7.0 from GS. I mean, honestly you can hit the level cap in 3 days.

Plus, theres no endgame to speak of... at this rate DCUO will be f2p in a few months.

Not really. Didn't GW1 have a really fast level progression to only 20? and then the meat of the game was trying different classes and PvP?[QUOTE="TheMadGamer"]From what I've read the cap is still set at 30, and only takes at most a week to reach for most players. ToR will give it a run for it's money.... (GW2 maybe too) And then Titan will come to Roflstomp those 2 :D In the end Blizzard wins! w00tConsidering that most people that care for MMOs are already subscribed on WoW, I'll guess that this will go like all others, some good subscriptions in the beggining and then it will plunge like everything else

It was f2p, no comparison.I say the game is decent enough to gather a decent core of players. But it is all on the developers end on how the game turns out in the long run. WoW was not the massive juggernaut that it is now from it's first few months, heck maybe even its first year. I cannot see this game turning out like that, but it can definitely be considered successful if they build upon it and not muck it up.RamenLovingPandI have to disagree. WoW was a hit from the start, I was buying up CE's for $75 and selling them for $200 on Ebay when it released. I don't recall any other MMO where the demand was so high. WoW was highly anticipated and successful from the start, saying it was not as massive then as it is now is like saying Michael Jordan was not as great in 92 as he was in 95. Just difference variations of massive is all.
im feelin a star trek online here...cool and interesting for awhile...but after u make a couple cap characters...ull get bored and go back to wow....

Yes, WoW was a great game even in Beta.....thing is back then WoW did things in a new and innovative way (as in more user friendly, and a few other features). There was a lot of good reviews before official launch. DC has been getting bad reviews in beta, hopefully it can pick up.....
I saw the full 1 hour quick look from giantbomb. Turned out about as I expected, only now I see that it has a console UI which is just soooo stupid. This game will never be big looking at the poor design.
How can you even have a opinion with out even playing the game. I dont care what game it is, games are not fun to watch. I have played 20 hrs or so and am level 16. I am a X Wow raider. I think the game is great, questing is 10 times better then in wow, raids are fun when you get a good group {just like wow}. Full raids are unlocked at level 30 so I dont know about that just the small raids. It took some getting used to but I would give it a solid 8.5.I saw the full 1 hour quick look from giantbomb. I agree, if you have a tank and a healer in your group then the Alerts are a lot of fun. I heard the eight man raids are pretty tough on the normal difficulty, hopefully the hard difficulty will require a lot of teamwork.

Sure, but WoW or LOTRO isn't about smashing Mouse 1 and Mouse 2 and killing everyone that way..... I can't see where you find combat fun if it's just double mouse clicking...? I literally got to level 14 without using any special skills .... They need to make some quests more varied, which MAKES you use these special skills....like a team event of rebuilding a bridge or something....I had so many ideas that could work but for now it looks just another run of the mill MMO....
love to see you get anywhere just double clicking in a competitive environment

I am talking about PvE....I love it, it's no wow killer simply because they are both completely different games, but it's still fantastic. It plays like an action rpg, you can combo together attacks, there's no auto attack, you have to actively dodge incoming attacks in order for them to miss (not just a random percentage chance) and it just generally feels like playing a super hero action game and nothing like playing a regular run of the mill mmo. Comparing it to wow is missing the point.
I would recommend buying it any day of the week.
@felipeinside, I like how you say things like:
"but what I am saying is that you can get through all the quests by just using the two mouse keys."
Thing is,you can't complete all the content that way, you haven't played past lvl 14 and game does get harder. You are required to use your skills/powers during boss fights and alerts, also teamwork is a must if you expect to survive the harder alerts.
"but as it is now, most people (whether u like it or not) will be bored of these quests after a few hours...."
A good number of players have been helping others with quests and alerts they are having a hard time on. I know myself and people in my league have been doing that. So yeah.... people seem to be enjoying the quests and combat more than you think.
"DC hasn't changed ANYTHING at all.... go here, kill 10 monsters, collect 10 items, collect reward"
Sure maybe it hasn't changed anything, but people don't really care because it makes sense. You're not killing baddies or collecting things for no reason, there's a purpose to those things and it makes sense in the story telling.
"made LOTS of people cancel pre-order"
I know you did, and others did as well, but a lot of people decided bought it after playing the beta and the majority of the community right now is enjoying the game. Even looking at most forums you hardly see any complaints. The only major concern that most of the community has is how well the developers will do with adding content.
and then you say
"Just because you like a game doesn't mean everybody has to...."
I could say the same thing to you, a lot of the points you were trying to make are no longer valid now that the game is released. In the beta I would have agreed with you on some points but things have changed. I mean, sure you said that the game could get better, but at this point in time the game is garbage. Okay, but you're not playing the game and you keep spouting stuff about the community that you have no clue about.
The majority of people I come across who dislike this game are veteran mmo players that want the game to be like some other mmo(not specifically WoW). Instead of just enjoying DCU for what it is. The best way I can put it, is that DCU was made to be accessible. The user interface, controller compatibility, and the fact that its on PS3 is some proof of that. Some people may have been expecting more, but from what I've gathered it was always intended to be accessible to both PS3 and PC gamers. More proof of that is you don't need a lot of time to feel like you've acomplished something. And thats great, if I have an hour to kill I can go play some pvp matches, an alerts, etc and be satisfied with that.
The game's not perfect, but its no where near as bad as the people on this board are making it out to be, which I'm pretty sure was the point Advid was trying to make.
