Decent gaming headset for ~ $100 ?

I'm looking for a decent gaming headset around the $100 range. There's such a huge variety of headsets that I can't differentiate between the good and bad :?

What would you guys recommend? Any particular brands that you've had good experiences with?

I tried out the turtle beach px21, but I was unimpressed with the sound and mic quality on PC.

I don't care for cross-platform headsets, I'm just looking for a solid pc gaming headset.
