Hi guys

I'm new to this place

I got a custom PC a few months back. Here is the config

Intel C2D 6600 2.40GHz

Intel DG965 mobo

2 x 1GB DDR2 667 Corsair VS RAM

320GB SATA

POV Nvidia 7300GT 256MB

O board Audio

Windows XP Prof

Planning on upgrading the display card and am a bit confused on which one to go in for.

8500 or 8600 (512MB) or should I keep the current one

Even confused bout upgrading to Vista

Fav games: Quake

NFS

Right now I am playing Farcry

Had to send my Video card for replacement coz of some problems and haven't got it back yet (Don't think I will).

Guys what do u suggest

8500 or 8600

8500 is not a gaming card, 8600GT minimum. Make sure you get the DDR3 version though. If you can the 8800GS is only $99.99 on newegg and is much better then the 8600GT.

It is Gddr3. If you want to pay >$150 then there is the 9600GT and if you want to pay >$200 then you have 8800GT.

If you pay in £ then £100 for 9600GT and £140 for 8800GT

How much you looking to spend? I'd say the minimum you should look for is a 9600GT, the more expensive being a 512MB 8800GTS. The 8800GT is right between.

9600GT - ~$150-170

8800GT - $180-210

8800GTS 512MB - $220-250

thanx for the reply guys

but i'd rather stick to what i asked before

8500 or 8600

I am not a hardcore gamer just looking to upgrade my card as my old one is gone for repairs/replacement(dont think will ever get it back)

The others are outta my budget

8500 is not a good game card. The 7600GT will even out-perform the 8500GT. This is an easy pick, go with the 8600GT and you will be glad you did.

oh and btw

the rates I got from my dealer here in India are kinda wierd.....

8500GT 512mb > Approx price in USD $91

8600GT 512MB > Approx price in USD $125

we don't have no rebate system here yet
