Depatch a game on steam?

Hello!

I hope some one can help me here. I been looking around on the web alot but cant find a solution.

The problem came yesterday. We have played Civilization 5 for a few days. Im playing on my Mac book pro and my friend is playing on PC windows vista 64. We had no problem finding the game and we got started. Then Yesterday a patch came for PC on Steam. He got the auto update and now we dont have the same patch version. Now we cant play! :( i bought my game in Mac store and he on steam.

So my question IS: Can you deptch the game on steam some how? So we can pley the older version that we played before. I cant find the patch enywere online and dont seem to exist on mac yet.

Mac is behind by 2 months on average with Civ 5 patches. There is no way to go back from a patch with Steam either. Automatic updates can be turned off and will stop any more patches, but there's no way to go back once a patch is applied. Even if he uninstalls it completely, Steam will always download it with the newest patch applied (not version 1.0).

Just make sure he turns off automatic updates. Then whenever you get the Mac patch, you guys should be at the same version. Unfortunately, the Mac versions are usually not supported as well as PC. (patches come out later, few Mac specific fixes, etc.)

the only game I've ever seen successfully depatched (done it myself) is GTA IV
