It sounds promising, though I'm not sure how I feel about it being a prequel yet, nor do I like the idea of a cover system as "stealth" instead of shadows and auto-heal doens't fit in either.

I'll try to keep an open mind. It shouldn't be too difficult to improve over Invisible War. It would be a disappointment if the game had zero stealth situations. I don't think I will miss the rpg stat system. At least there will plenty of augmentations. No matter what, my final judgement will be based on when the final product is ready.

"combat won't be influenced by stats" aka no RPG skill system, probably no meaninful choices either

"stealth will now rely on a cover system rather than shadows" :|

"damage will be dealt with by a very Call of Duty-$tyle auto-heal" :o

Judging by that article, it will be a generic shooter with customizable weapons and "uber-cool augmentations." Dumbed down. It will suck. That means Thief 4 is gonna suck too. Oh well, here's to hoping that Deus Ex 4 will not suck, when it's made in 2020.

The one skill based thing I hope they keep is the skills like swimming, hacking, and all of those things. With out the choice in base skills it takes a huge chunk out of the replayability and exploration aspects of the series. (at least I think it would)

I really like what I read about it focusing on a stylistic look rather than your typical Uneral 3 engine game. Though I hope by stylistic they don't mean cel-shaded or anything crazy like that.

HenriH-42

It doesn't mean that at all; you couldn't possibly have any evidence this early to back that up. There has been no word on Thief 4 using the same game engine and mechanics as Deus Ex 3 like their previous titles. The fact is, nobody really knows anything about Thief 4 at all other than it is still just a rumor.

That is some awesome artwork. (it is artwork right?)

I've never played the original Deus Ex games, probably for the reason I was younger when it came out. Maybe I should play them one day.

Actually the cover stealth system could be very good. That feature might be something like the stealth in the Hitman games where being stealthy does not rely on shadows, rather it relies on you providing your own cover with plotting, quick maneuvering, and using disguises. And really, it probably doesn't make much sense that a futuristic setting would have lack of lighting everywhere.

I heard it was free at Gametap or something like that, dunno if it's anymore and I think it's only for people who live in the US & Canada.

Oh god dammit! Every freaking game that comes in contact with consoles I swear.

Serves me right for daring to hope Deus Ex 3 would break the trend the second game set.

The augmentations sound great.

The combat stats in the first game (never played IW) seemed a bit stupid. I think it's better to learn yourself how to fight, like in Stalker.

It will be interesting if gamers have become accustomed to instant gratification with augmentations like the Crysis nanosuit for example where all special abilities are available from the start of the game. Or will they appreciate the old school style where you gradually have to earn them and decide which ones to build.

seriosuly cover system for stealth and regenreating health...honestly this is just a **** console game and it pisses me off.the real fans are on the pc and i hope to god eidos caters to them first and foremost and then to the retard generation on their consoles.just pisses me off when a beloved pc franchise gets console-ised.crazyfist36

This. And they lie when they say that "we looked at IW and learned from the mistakes". If they did that, the game would've been a PC exclusive. Invisible War sucked balls because it was made for the Xbox and console instant-gratification/ADHD audience, fact. It looks like Deus Ex 3 is gonna be the same way too.

Enjoyed both Deus Ex games a lot. Sure Deus Ex 1 was more deep, but deus ex 2 was still a very enjoyable and unique gaming experience.

Deus Ex 3 being a prequel has seriously knocked my hopes down. Movie prequels have never worked for me. So why should games?

Personally i want a story to move forward, not backwards.

So far it sounds much better than Invisible War. 20 augments in all and one that lets you have tentacles? Pure genius - but I hope there aren't any anime girls in teh game.. :x

I don't care what anyone says about the cover-stealth system, Deus Ex, like the thief and System Shock games, was meant to be played where you could hide and silently wait for your enemies to walk by so you could knock them out. Using shadows was one of the best aspects of the game. And taking out the skills system sucks too.

This game looks like it'll be a crappy console style shooter.

I don't know if they are going to exclude the use of shadows completely, if they did it would be kind of stupid if you ask me...

well the game is officialy ruined,i'll may rent it.I expect the next elder scrolls game (even if its online) to have the stupid console-cover system and health regenaration. The fact that its completely stupid doesnt matter at all, they'll find a reason to put it in just like they found with this game

Oh yes, the game will suck. I know nothing about the new cover system, nothing about the stat system, but this game officially sucks.

Sheesh.

I bet the cover system will be something similar to MGS4's stealth.

I'm reluctant to get my hopes up about Deus Ex 3 and Thief 4. These games are such unique titles that I doubt there are too many development teams that can do a new game justice.

Deus Ex 2 wasn't a bad game at all. Its biggest fault is that it was designed to two seperate platforms when there was a 5 year technology divide between them. This really hurt the feel of the game so much so it didn't fair well in comparisons to the original classic.

I'm weeping silently inside. Deus Ex is my all time fave game and already no 3 has the hallmarks of something that will follow the lead of Fallout 3. I am sick of this capitalist system where profit means everything and the quality of products is thrown to the decision of the (ignorant) mainstream.

I'm actually quite pleased that stats no longer influence shooting accuracy. Even the cover system thingy is fine by me.

But auto-heal? Nahhhhhh.

However, if they can make open-ended, dynamic and natural levels like the ones found in the first game, everything should be forgotten.

I wonder... has there ever been a faithful and quality sequel that has been given to a piece of older PC IP? Thief: Deadly Shadows was actually quite good but not nearly as fantastic as the originals.

Call of Duty-style health system is horrible for a FP-RPG style game like Deus Ex. It only works in fast paced action games, I guess that's an indication of what kind of game Deus Ex 3 is gonna be.

Yes, I'm certain that this game is gonna be terrible.
