Got it preordered on steam. It's my most anticipated game for the remainder of the year.

Pre-ordered the Augmented Edition over a year ago. To say I am excited about this game would be a colossal understatement. I'm more excited about reading reviews for it even than I am playing any other game this year.
I have a good feeling about it, It's extremely difficult to live up to the original of course but I think they might have produced something special. I've managed to stay away from the leaked beta but everyone who has played it seems to think the game is incredible.
Here is another review

The new issue of Games Master awards Deus Ex a massive 94% score, calling the new entry "an incredible piece of game-making; it's the revival Deus Ex always deserved."
The mag concludes by calling the Square Enix shooter "a once-in-a-generation kind of game, and the first game in a decade to do everything the original Deus Ex did, and to do almost all of it better."
Get hyped people :P

I'm a huge Deus Ex fanboi, but I would only trust the original team and Spector to do this right.
Why exactly? They made invisible war..I will admit, I played the leak (hey the devs encouraged it for feedback so why not? ;) ) and I played it for a few hours and then immediately deleted it, and not becuase it was bad. In fact, it was the oppsoite. I didn't want to spoil anymore of the game and went off to pre-order that same night. I knew I was getting something good and I didn't want to miss out. I think I paid $28 for my pre-order so I'm happy there. This will be easily one of the best RPGs comming out this year.
Playing through DE1 again, it's really dawned on me-
Deus Ex is possibly one of the most depressing games about in all seriousness - in terms of atmosphere.
Seriously STALKER might have the loneliness and abandoned Eastern block architecture and Ukrainian countryside, but Deus Ex is beyond grim.
The sheer volume of plague victims and homeless; their (damn well written) dialogue which reflects everything on the game world - which bleeds right back into the grimy art direction to the small details like newspapers. It's engrossing and perhaps a bit overwhelming when you stop, think and walk around hells kitchen or battery park - everyone is living well under the poverty line and no one cares, they're completely disenfranchised and betrayed by the system - which fits with the plot and political undercurrents of the game.
In some ways its stronger than a game like Patholigic, which uses its own mechanics to enforce the grimness (Deus Ex doesn't nearly to the same effect).
Even the little things
- two homeless guys in the clinic talking, one makes sculptures out of copper wires. The other says to him - 'there isn't a place for sculpture today' to which he replies 'there's always tomorrow'.
Godamn.
What a reminder to how high the bar is set for HR, I really, really hope they nail this, even things like how everyone reacts to you not killing anyone, your Unatco superiors and comrades being displeased by it, while others individuals applauding it.
Its possible I'll get it but not for several years. I really don't like the whole steam requirement. For $50+ I figure I should be able to play a single player game wheneverI want as long I have the hardware to run it. That seems reasonable to me. Since I can't I'll wait until its at least $20 preferablely about $10. If it is a good as it sound then it really won't matter how long I wait. It will still be fun.
With Steam games you can play offline perfectly - I've done so plenty of times outside of wifi connections, even Deus Ex while waiting for a connecting flight. I can see it for non adopters or users as it being annoying though. Its possible I'll get it but not for several years. I really don't like the whole steam requirement. I am definitely excited for it, but part of me is worried... Worried that it won't live up to Deus Ex, just like Invisible War. What I have seen though looks very promising, but I haven't seen a whole lot of just talking to characters, which for me was the best parts of the original game. It looks pretty and it seems to feel kinda like Deus Ex, but I suppose only by playing it will I find out.
