Tempted to buy, but I already have ME2 PC to play and Dirt 3, Batman AA, think I will wait a bit then buy this game. Maybe some nice graphics updates will come out by the time I buy it, if not I am just going to get it on the Xbox.V4LENT1NE
Uhm, I don't think going from the PC version to console the graphics will get any better lol, I think it's the other way around.
[QUOTE="IxX3xil3d0n3XxI"]A big selling point on games for me is replayability. Does HR offer a incentive to play it more than once? topsemag55Yes, I'm tempted already to scrap my first game and start over, buying different augs. Heck yeah. I couldn't agree more. Sometimes I would revert back to a previous save just to see how I could approach each area differently. I've only done it once.. because I want to be able to play the game more than once.. but I just wanted to try and see what I was missing.. there are so many ways to approach each fight.
Oh thank god. I was getting load times of nearly a minute in some levels. Now if they'll just fix a few bugs (the biggest one I encountered being that a quest later on in the game didn't activate the next step after a certain point, thus precluding me from finishing the side-quest) and optimize the game some more (I get the same performance in this game on eyefinity as I do in Crysis in eyefinity which is ridiculous) I'll be happy.[QUOTE="gameguy6700"]
[QUOTE="kozzy1234"]
Update for the game just came out on steam, says there are a few fixes, main one being "Up to 50% faster loading times" and "Issue for some AMD/ATI hardware crash"
kozzy1234
12-18 I was getting, but a few of my friends and a cousin of mine were getting 45 second loading they said. This looks to give a nice boost :)
I counted it literally and it took around 12-20 seconds just like Kozzy is reporting. It's not terrible although I feel like it breaks the immersion a bit. This along with recycled character face models, dialogue for NPCs, and voice actors.. then this game would have been perfect; although I wasn't expecting perfect. Deus Ex HR is truly remarkable. Everyone who loved the original should get it. Hell, even if you didn't play the original, GET THIS. I like HR more than the original by a good point![QUOTE="V4LENT1NE"]Tempted to buy, but I already have ME2 PC to play and Dirt 3, Batman AA, think I will wait a bit then buy this game. Well, I find the games graphics to be quite awesome, but even so, it's more about the gameplay, which is phenomenal! If you need a texture mod just to play this game, then I simply have no idea.
I don't get the AI hate, I've never been in a position thinking "they should see me but they don't" usually it's the other way around which makes it hard. I tend to reload a save when I get caught because I'm trying for mostly stealth since you get more points and it seems more rewarding. Like sometimes you get spotted then the guy searches the area, the other patrolling guard says something like "sounds like you're searching for ghosts again" It's easy to pick out flaws in AI that you spend so much time with. The only AI bug I came across was when one of them got stuck in a wall. nutcrackr
I don't get it either. I remember hearing somewhere the the PC version has beefed up AI, that could explain it. Most reviewers reviewed the console versions.

Really? So console gaming created boss fights?
But, besides your absurb remark, I don't see how boss fights are a bad thing. Though I will agree that the boss fights in Deus Ex HR are bad. They need to look at Metal Gear Solid 3 to get some good ideas. Yeah, they need to look at a console game.
25 hours in, and I'm still loving this game. I'm blasting through some of the levels now. I play stealthy until I get detected, and then just start gunning everyone down. I love how effective the 10mm pistol is with armour-piercing... it's still very effective against most enemies. Also, typhoon system is amazing.
One of my main gripes with the game is the pretty much mandatory use of hacking. If you can't find the obscure datapad with the code, if there even IS one, as not all codes are given out.. then you have to rely on hacking. And the skill tree shows it. There are waaaay too many hacking-based skills. I hope they work on this for the next game, so that players can have more of an identity. Why can't I just pump a bunch of points into strength augmentation and rip doors off their hinges?
There was at least one quest that I have no idea how you would do without level 3 hacking, and when I searched the interwebs.. I didn't see anyone post an alternative. And sometimes there are some goodies.. weapons, weapon upgrades, that are just laying around behind hackable doors. So despite my reluctance to even use hacking, it's still at level 4 at the moment.
Yeah, man.. this game...is friggin amazing. Too bad I have a house party to go to starting at noon tomorrow or else I would continue to play this game. My GOTY pick so far. I'm glad you're enjoying it. I find the game to be too easy... although I always try to go stealth unless I get detected.. then it's all gunning them down which I find way too easy. I'm even contemplating replaying on harder difficulty. I didn't expect normal mode to be that easy. Oh well. I love this game..25 hours in, and I'm still loving this game. I agree with Hacking is basically required. There are some side quests that you can't finish without having a high hacking skill. Another thing is that hacking gains you exp points. Everything else so far seems to be up to you. I also got the ability to jump high and punch through walls to see if there are any hidden places I can reach. So far only found one where you had to have the break wall ability to go inside but, there was nothing of value inside.

I havn't tried it myself, but I've read on the steam forums that you can break doors down. Just shoot it with a powerful gun like a shotgun. You can even do the same thing to those breakable walls, even without the augment. So that at least takes care of hackable doors and whatnot. I'm going to give it a shot (heh heh) later today and see if it works.

Yeah, I'd definitely recommend playing on the harder difficulty. I just went straight to that one when playing, and you need to be really careful about your firefights. Take a shot, maneuver and find a better position, maintain the advantage. Even with max dermal armour, I still die to frags in one shot, close up shotguns in one shot.. and I can't absorb many hits in general.

I have those same abilities as well. They've come in handy on occasion, especially the jump high ability.. punch through walls, I usually end up getting through an area another way and then find that I could have wall-punched my way through it afterwards :) There's a spot in the sewers in Detroit where you can punch through a wall to get a Praxis point, but I haven't found a ton of use for it other than that. Also noticed some areas where you can hack the door, high jump over it, or punch through a wall.. lol. Sometimes you get a lot of options, and sometimes none. It's strange.

You're right, I should try that out. I still have yet to try it with the shotgun, which I've now dropped since I hardly ever used the damn thing. I did use explosives once as a test... an exploding barrel won't do anything, but a mine on the door will blow it up. Problem is I use explosives a lot in my regular game, and you don't come across enough of them to waste on blowing up doors. The game should really allow you to craft explosives as some sort of demolition specialist.
One of the quests I mentioned previously, though.. it had a level 3 hackable door which you could blow up, but the final portion of the quest had a level 3 hackable terminal which I NEVER found the code for... not sure if it even exists.
It's pretty awesome, love the choice you have with everything, the atmosphere is great, and the city and talking to people. I wish they made more games like this, actually I wish these guys made a sequel to Bloodlines, as someone who didn't play the original Deus Ex that's the vibe I'm getting from this game.
There are some flaws though, it looks pretty dated for one. And there are small gameplay quirks like sometimes I feel like an idiot standing behind someone tapping the Q key with nothing happening, then you just stand there waiting for the energy to recharge.
And I'm still not quite sure what the deal is with all the cyborgs, did people voluntarily cut off their arms and legs or are minefields just like everyday things in the future.
Oh and that first four legged robot thing you see is propably the coolest thing ever, really reminds me of that mule prototype thing that actually exists which just makes it even creepier.
^ So it's safe to say that I shouldn't have to invest my points in that Aug (smashes walls) huh? I'm putting my points in the Aug where you can walk and sprint without detection, jump from high places without damage or noise. I don't know what has come over me. It's like I want to be a ninja all of a sudden. Damn you Deus Ex!
You haven't even played the game yet you're calling it a console port? TO answer your question, it's the furtherest from a console port I've seen in years. Custom interface, tweaked AI, DX11 features, ability to customise FOV, and not to mention the gameplay, which doesn't resemble a console game; you have to manually enter codes, open doors, etc.Back on topic.......
A few questions:
So these boss fights are not your typical arcadish type?
Does the game play like a console port or have a pc game feel to it?
vfibsux
Alright, done. I can finally get on with my life again.. this game has been an obsession since its release :P
If anyone's curious about stats, took me 35 hours to finish. I kinda blasted through the second half of the game, not bothering to search EVERY computer, nook and cranny. But I was still exploring a decent bit. Also only played stealth when I felt like it. I can easily see the game being 50 hours plus if people try and maintain a stealth/ghost/non-lethal approach to the game and really spend a lot of time exploring. I'm sure there's some stuff I missed.
Also had I believe 49 Praxis points by the end. It's a little tough to calculate since you start with some, but I think I got that right.
I just turned it off entirely. :PSo I'm loving this game right now, but theres one small thing thats really bothering me: why is the crosshair so damn HUGE? It's really ugly and I want Deus Ex's tiny white crosshair back. Any way to mod this or something?
KleptoZ
To each his own, I guess. Just remember that your going to miss out on one hell of an amazing FPS though, almost easily the best Single-player one released this year. The term "boss fight" is enough for me to say no.

i picked the smashing wall one later on, it actually came in handy for getting some goodies.
Definatly not one of hte ones I would reccomend to use early, more like one that you should get later on if you have a spare point or two ;)
For me the takign over turret and taking over robot or what ever its called, along with the break the walls are better later on (come in handy more later in the game then early).

Thanks mate! Good because if it's one thing I hate screwing up on is investing points into skills I don't need.I'm kinda skeptical with graphics and new games, even thou i don't mind, and i love playing old games, and they feel and look great for me lol like bf2.
Haven't pld the game and i won't get it til price drops.
As i've seen in vids, game doesn't look attractive, but might be fun to play..
Deus ex is one of my fav titles of all times, and it seems that human revs kinda achieved to get the same gameplay feel
Anyways it'd be nice if they had used the soundtrack from the original, or some kind of remix. Nothing will ever be as immersive than that. Damn... ain't got enough words, it mixed futuristic darkness, with technology and ohoh... Thats all
it"S cool , but the graphics could be better though ...
some text at walls are washed out/low res and unreadable , verry little reflections and wrong shadows (shadow of a chair appears on the aother side of a solid wall !! see second pic )
i tried to give the game more bloom and darker sharper shadows to compensate the "washed out" look , but now it seems a tad to gloomy ...
oh well , maybe a high-res pack will appear as dlc.
[QUOTE="KleptoZ"]I just turned it off entirely. :PSo I'm loving this game right now, but theres one small thing thats really bothering me: why is the crosshair so damn HUGE? It's really ugly and I want Deus Ex's tiny white crosshair back. Any way to mod this or something?

Well I feel pretty dumb now, I never figured just to just get rid of it :P
Thanks.
