I heard that the N64 cost more to develop for than the PlayStation. Lately I have been trying to find a source on the net that tells just how much the two systems cost to develop for. If you know of a credible site could you please let me know where to find it?
If memory serves, and I don't ahve a source, it was approx $150-250 for PlayStation, and about 175-250 for N64. Of course there's games that cost a lot less and a lot more.
It's all about how many people you have to put on the project and for how long. Today with all the HD art that has to be done, it's pricey
The thing that made the N64 so expensive for the developers was not the game software. It was the hardware that cost so much. N64 used expensive Cartridges with up to 800Mb ROM cartridges. That is what made it so much more to produce for a developer. Sony only had to deal with CD's that cost less than a dollar to produce.
