Ok, i never got into diablo games, but after seeing some footage of diablo 3, i just said, all well why not, so i got a pack with daiblo, diablo 2, and diablo 2 LOD, but in diablo 2, i seem to keep dying early off in the game, then i have to walk all the way back to where i died to pick up my crap, then i die again, it kind of pissing me off, any way to turn down difficulty? (lol, ya i suck) anyways, im liking the game alot except for that, also, do you know any diablo clones that could also hold me off until diablo 3?

A good clone is titan quest, and the game is easier then diablo II (for me anyways).

How far are you in Diablo II? Maybe you built your character wrong, try to look at a character building guide, yo can find plenty on this website.

Only in the fact that you won't find many other legit players to play with. Other than that its a cake walk. WITHOUT good gear even.

I thought the same but I played the game recently and the first few hours were hell. There were ZERO health potions that dropped for me and not one unique weapon dropped within my first 12 hours of play. 1 of those hours were spent simply trying to kill the Centaur boss. I remade a new character because I began to assume that the game was bugged. But it wasn't. I checked the monster levels and they were dishing out level 19s at me when I was level 10.

There's a fairly obscure Diablo clone called "The 4th Calling" or something similar that I enjoyed quite a bit.

I found Sacred to be pretty enjoyable. I haven't really played Divine Divinity but I have heard good things from it.

For the most part, you should be buying your health/mana potions. And you don't really need yellow/green/blue items to drop at every critter you kill to get good gear. Pick up the white items and sell those (there's a TON of whites that drop...and over time, the gold accumulation will allow you to buy your magical items). Additionally, depending on the class combo you've chosen, your experience with the game will change. For instance, a Harbinger (Dream/Warfare) will have a MUCH easier time getting through the game than a Defense/Nature character. However, the same can be said for Diablo 2...a Lycanthrope Druid will have a harder time getting through the game than a Summoning Necromancer. It's just how the genre works. And those level 19s that you're facing ARE killable when you're level 10...it just takes a while and a TON of health potions (it also helps if you have a ranged weapon with charge-up damage effects).

And yeah, I agree that it's a pain to find legit characters to play with.

Titan Quest is an excellent Diablo clone. Divine Divinity is also pretty good. I'm not a big fan of the Dungeon Siege series, but others seem to like it.

at default difficulty, the game isn't difficult at all....i can reach Mount Arreat ( the expansion pack ) is less than 3 days, and i'm not even trying.

my guess is, you're just frustrated with the game, being a new player. the mobs always hang around the same place, so if you're killed they would surely be around when you're trying to get your stuff back -- and if you're not careful, you get wasted again. try moving around to draw them away instead of rushing to your stuff naked.

D2 is not a difficult game, becoz its levels are usually very spacious. you get killed only when you get trapped -- with enough, and careful, maneuvering, you won't have any trouble staying alive. the only really difficult part is the 2nd chapter boss...Anduriel or whatever. you're pitted against one of the hardest hitting bosses in one of the smallest rooms in the game.

Just store all your loot.before you venture forth..If you die.then exit and enter game again and all your stuff is on your corpse right where you are..you won't lose anything.
