Diablo 2, Titan Quest AND The Witcher

I'm playing all 3 of these wonderful games right now. Today, I played them each for around 2-3 hours. That made up my entire sunday. It was great.

I have't played Diablo for over 5 yeas. Titan quest is quite good. I've been playing it for a few weeks now & The Witcher is great too. Normally, I play one game at a time through, but for some reason I'm playing these three and it is great.

If I had to choose, Diablo 2 is my favourite. What is everyone's favourite out of the 3????

I absolutely LOVE Diablo 1 and 2. I beat those games several times and played Diablo 2 online for quite some time. I also played Titan Quest, although it has horrible framerate on my laptop even on the lowest settings, so I stopped playing. I will save my money to buy a high-end desktop, then play Titan Quest, NeverWinter Nights 2 and the Witcher on it. NWN2 also lags bad on my laptop, but I still play NWN1 okay :)

So what is your fave class in Diablo 2? Mine is the Paladin. I love playing a Zeal Paladin using Fanaticism and Holy Shield :)

I hate repetitive hack 'n' slash games with barely a story like Diablo and Titan Quest

You're playing Diablo 2 and Titan Quest? That seems a little redundant to me.

I never counted, but I suspect I've spent over a thousand hours playing Diablo 2. I was actually super addicted to it during college. I used to skip classes to play.

Titan Quest just didn't have the moreishness of Diablo 2 for me, and I didn't like how character development was handled. I like to pick a class before I start the game and play that class. I hate DIY class systems in fantasy roleplaying games.

The Witcher is the best roleplaying game I've played since Bloodlines - in fact, it's the only good roleplaying game I've played since Bloodlines.

If I had to pick a favourite, Diablo 2 would win, but I really don't like to compare Diablo 2 to The Witcher. That's like comparing Half Life to Battlefield 2. You just don't compare them.

I LOOOOVE Diablo 2, and the Witcher is awesome as well.

I didnt really like Titan Quest though.

The Witcher is a very good RPG. I only played the demo, but it was enough to realise how awesome it is.

I never played Diablo 2, only the original and I enjoyed it.

I LOVE Titan Quest. The setting is instant win, it feels like playing Hercules: The Legendary Journeys:lol: And I liked the class system too, I find it better than the regular ones because I could pick exactly the skills I liked (I chosed the warrior class and the one that deals with the spirits, just because I think a warrior that's using undead and spiritism skillz is way more badass than any other combination).

Another hack'n'slash I liked is Fate, a mix between Diablo and Dungeon Siege. I think it's better than both these games.

diablo 2 is one of the greatest games in pc gaming history.

having said that, i played titan quest and felt it was very similar to diablo 2 (so naturally, i enjoyed it). and i'm currently enjoying the witcher. but clearly, diablo 2.

Diablo2, Five years of addicted Hell. I loved it. I have still not found a game that I enjoy half as much and lord knows I have tried a bunch.

I am hoping Age of Conan will fill the void.

I've played Diablo maybe once or twice, but I never really felt it.

I haven't played titan quest but i liked the witcher better than D2 because D2 wasn't much roleplaying. you didn't really make choices outside your character sheet.

Witcher had deeper story and one that i felt i actually made a difference in.

Yeah. Nothing compares to Diablo 2.

As for Titan Quest, it is enjoyable, but there is something lacking. I can't put a finger on it, but it doesn't all come together. I might drop this and start playing through Mythos. Not sure though...

The Witcher's story is quite impressive at times. Being able to investigate and solve certain mysteries in various ways can be really fun. The combat however, is up and down for me. Maybe it's because I'm playing Diablo 2 and it is just too good. It's basic hack'n'slash but it's so visceral and incredibly addictive. Not trying to compare them, just having fun playing them.

Diablo 2 on BNET is an incredible game. I played the Titan Quest Demo and it was fun. The Witcher Demo was very good also.

Never played diablo 2, but have played both titan quest and the witcher. I would have to say The witcher would be the better game over titan quest.

As for Titan Quest, it is enjoyable, but there is something lacking. I can't put a finger on it, but it doesn't all come together.

it might be the lack of gore. ;) plus, it's nowhere near as atmospheric (again, gore) and thus not as memorable.

Me too, i've played Diablo 2 "for 3 years", when we are board on the game that were playing, we switchback again to diablo, the 1st party game we played.. i think this is the first MMORPG? using battle net..

It looks ok from screenshots, and being the rpg lover I am I will definately try it out. But it comes from the guys that made HellCrap:London so I don't have high hopes for it.

Ive been playing it for 3 months now and its great. Its much more faithful to Diablo than HGL was. Awesome skill trees with infinite numbers of possible builds, great loot, and a newly introduced crafting system that I'm still getting used to, but it seems unique and very flexible as well.

The environments are straight out of Diablo2, starting you out in lush forests, then moving to a desert, and now I'm in a ice area. Its the closest thing to the Diablo experience that I've played, and Ive put a ton of hours into Guild Wars, Titan Quest and HGL.

I loved Titan Quest while I was playing it. The graphics and the storylines made it much better than Diablo 2 imo.

However Diablo 1 & 2 were the only ones I got all the way through. After those I get sick of Hack and slash real quick.

All 3 of the games you mentioned are woth playing IMO

With Diablo2 and The Witcher being the best imo

Ok well since you dissed me by not telling me about the Mythos beta, make sure you make it up to me by letting me know when the Guild Wars 2 beta starts and get me a spot. Closed, Open, Sideways, I don't care! ;)

Didn't anyone feel that the save system in Titan Quest is very unusual? Especially because you can't load the game, so basically you will be killing monsters over and over needlessly, unlike in Diablo.

That was one of the reasons I didn't want to play the game through. I really disliked the save system.

the save system is similar to (if not exactly the same as) diablo 2. i see nothing wrong with it (i have the expansion (through which i play the original as well), so maybe they changed it for the expansion?).

Well, I think it's really silly to not have a load game option. If Diablo 2 has the same system, I'll may not play it. I don't want to be forced to complete a quest, or start at a particular point everytime I start the same.

Diablo had a good system going on, why change it? I don't know...thats just my opinion though. I know a lot of people liked it, but well...I don't see any point in having checkpoints in a RPG.

i assumed you played diablo 2. i guess i got confused becase you wrote 'basically you will be killing monsters over and over needlessly, unlike in Diablo.' i don't see how you'd be killing monsters needlessly, since the monsters you kill stay dead and were monsters that you had to kill anyway. anyway, i think it's fine. but i know there are quite a few people that don't like diablo 2's save system, so i'm sure you're not the only one who dislikes titan quest because of it.
