It is simply not possible for any Diablo series game to be anything less than extraordinary, and to say otherwise is to basically just talk nonsense for the sake of argument.

At this point, it is simply not possible for Diablo 3 to be anything less than stellar.

No MMO in history has come close to these things.
Starcraft 2 is no different either.
You even think Activision acquired Blizzard. You obviously don't even have a clue anyway.

Agreed. I have no clue what WizardGlass is talking about. World of Warcraft (at least vanilla, golden days) was hella fun. I no longer play WoW but it was one of the most fun I had in years of gaming (been gaming since the NES days, even some Atari). Yup, just another internet macho-man.
Time and time again, I haven't come across an MMO that matches the fun factor that WoW provided. And I've played many MMO's. I don't even think Guild Wars 2 will ever match that (after playing in a couple of beta weekends) - but that remains to be tested. Starcraft II is awesome. Warcraft games are awesome.

Wait what? Diablo created the hack n slash rpg genre.. D2 is still played to this day by large amounts of people, it is the best hack n slash game to date..[QUOTE="WizardGlass"]nope.... has almost zero chance of being game of the year. and the graphics/animations are pretty sub par for this day and age. gameplay is standard diablo fair, which is to say fun but nothing specialC_A_V_E_M_A_NYou do realize that the Diablo series of games are considered the greatest hack n' slash RPG series ever made, don't you? I think gaming has evolved alot since the hack n slash Diablo of the mid nineties came out. It's a good game for what it is and I'm pre-ordering, but I doubt it will win universal GOTY's across the board. It's so simplistic and honestly the main reason I'm getting it is that a bunch of my friends are going to be only playing this when it comes out. I'm not doubting it will win GOTY on at least a few gaming sites, but that's probably as much to do as it's a hyped Blizz release than anything else.
[QUOTE="SKaREO"]I find that Diablo 3 lacks the sophistication, distinction and stylish elegance of the previous iterations.JKnaperekClearly you haven't played it then. No one has, what the beta provides is a glorified short tutorial demo.. IF we were to play the same thing with Diablo 2 it would only be Den of Evil and Blood Raven.. I am quite certain we would have the exact same naysayers with that game if they were only able to play that.. This isn't suggesting the game is going to be great, but could people stop putting the cart before the horses..
The beta seemed like Diablo 1/2 but minus the charm which made those games great. They changed the gothic style into comical fantasy and dumbed down plenty of game mechanics. The only things which can save this game is a outstanding campaign and plenty of good challenges on the harder difficulties.

It is hard to have fun playing a video game while you are twisting your mustache the whole time :P

It's a waste of time arguing about it. The vocal minority means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Diablo 3 will sell amazing while grabbing great reviews, and really that's all that matters. It's the same thing with Mass effect 3, the vocal minority QQ's about how much the game sucks and they all start acting like it's common knowledge when the game itself is selling amazing and getting praise everywhere else.
Diablo 3 was well worth the wait. Incredible game of absolutely superb quality. Blizzard makes some of the best games out there and Diablo 3 is no exception. Everything from the gameplay, to graphics, to sound, is extremely well done. Just a great game overall and has a very good chance of being Game of the Year!C_A_V_E_M_A_Nmeh.
Diablo 3 is entertaining at best. I wish they would add in the pet features from Torchlight that runs your gear back to town for money, but hey, that'd almost be innovative.
As for Starcraft 2....meh. It could've been done better as I expected more from a high-tier developer with the amount of time and resources they took to create the game.

D3's combat is very efficient and not overly complicated, but not simplistic. There are still many skills that can be hot-keyed and used in a timed manner, making for relatively strategic combat. Using these skills strategically is especially important at higher stages and difficulty levels. D3's combat is perfect for a hack 'n slash RPG.Diablo 3 was well worth the wait. Meh, may as well be LootVille for Facebook.
but i liked the art design in diablo 1/2 also the music in diablo 3 just sounds like generic movie music i want scary musicA lot of ignorant Blizzard haters here who think they are "dumbing down" Diablo in Diablo 3.
The ignorance is that you believe Diablo was ever "deep" to begin with.

Its kinda weird, somebody making a new profile talking up the game of GS forum about the beta, this close to the actual game's release.
Anyways, I'm gonna have to ignore Diablo 3 at this moment sadly. I can't see the wisdom of having an always-on internet DRM even when playing single-player; I travel a lot and don't always have internet.
I'll probably wait for price drops, pick it up on cheap and then get a crack. Its sad really but its easier to run pirated games these days than legit ones. And I used to think that blizzard were a pro-consumer company. Although I pretty sure Acti-f**king-vision had something to do with that DRM.

I am a huge Matt Uelmen fan, but I must say the first part of Diablo II's music was sub par compared to Diablo 1. Meaning that the music up until after Blood Raven, was mainly just ok when compared to the first game, and doesn't start getting good in Diablo II until you get passed Blood Raven.
Which Is basically what I expect from Diablo III, I don't want all the scaryness, and/or fanfare to be at the beginning of the game. I want there to be a nice suspenseful buildup like in Diablo II.
Diablo I's music was dark all the way through, but it still the scariest and heaviest tracks were still: Catacombs, Caves, Hell. Which were all after the first quarter of the game. Tristram, Intro, and Dungeon (were dark, but not as scary as the later 3 tracks)
Do you understand that you can't crack D3 because all data is stored on their servers like in WoW. All you can do is make a private server which will be a lot worse and buggy than official one. Always on-line means it will be easier for them to deal with hacks and bots, having this DRM benefits them and players. At last Blizzard is smart enough not to pay attention to narrow minded kids like you, I respect them for that. Its kinda weird, somebody making a new profile talking up the game of GS forum about the beta, this close to the actual game's release.

I'm thinking of getting this game on my Mac but I just realized that since Macs have smaller arrow keys that might impact the ease of play. Are the arrow keys used often in Diablo games?DannyUnlimited
I am not too sure about Diablo III, but Diablo I and II were more mouse click controlled games, using shortcuts on the keyboard for things. (1-9) for potions/skills
hold shift to swing in place.. Most of your movements are with the mouse, click to move, can also click to hold to continue moving.
As long as your mac has adequate specs, I don't think the arrow keys matter much, if at all in Diablo.
I find that Diablo 3 lacks the sophistication, distinction and stylish elegance of the previous iterations.SKaREOThe previous Diablo games were the complete opposite, early developed games with a bunch of unthought out tacked on extras that luckily got very popular, seeing as it was the first glimps of loot/deungeon whoring mmos would become. To say the things you say is obsurd. they were very primitive concepts that succeeded based on being one of the first. nothing more. infact its the other way around, the 3rd displays alot more heinsight, elegant design and style that the previous games.
Comical art style.... sorry doesnt fly with me. Wihtout making it "2d-3d" like the previous game it would of looked CRAP if it was near pitch black like the previous 2, there is nothing comic like about Diablo III, infact there is nothing light or cheerful about it either. The beta seemed like Diablo 1/2 but minus the charm which made those games great. Look, I genuinely have no interest in how their online DRM works. And I can't see how it is of any benefit to me, considering I will probably have to pass on this game because of that always-online thing. If I'm not wrong, I'm not alone in this and a lot of people have already complained about it. Heck, go the the main GameSpot page today, Laura Parker has criticised it. Not everybody has internet available to them 24x7.
You have an always-on internet, you can play this. Good for you. That doesn't make it any more convenient for the rest of us that don't. Read that post again, I never said I was gonna pirate the game, I never have done, never will. You have to understand the difference between picking a game up cheap on sale and stealing it.
My job requires me to travel a lot and I spend a lot of time sitting alone in a hotel room in remote places where my only pass-time is playing single player games on my laptop. I don't think it is too much for me to ask from a game that I've PURCHASED to let me play SINGLE-player hassle-free.
And perhaps this will be too much for you to understand that I said I'll have to download a crack EVEN AFTER I will purchase it; whether it works or not thats another matter. Its that DRM thats gonna make me get that crack even after buying it; or not going to let play the game at all even after purchase, which seems likely now; going by your explaination of the DRM that you "respect" Blizzard so much for.
I never realized that having a 24x7 internet connection was a compulsary requirement for gaming, especially for single-player. Go back just a few years, take even Diablo 2 for that matter. Diablo 2 didn't have any DRM, I bought it and played the hell out of it; so did millions of others. Those who wanted to play online still played online just alright, people like me were happy with the single-player experience they got out of the game. Blizzard made millions from that game, going a long way in making Blizzard what it is now. All that without a DRM.
You quote me WoW as example. I hope you do realize the difference between a single-player and a MMO game.
In the end, I'll probably end up ignoring Diablo 3 and picking up Torchlight 2 whenever that comes out. Atleast it won't have me dealing with the hassles of DRM to play single-player. Its the DRM thats making Blizzard lose out on my purchase, as well as other like me. Good luck respecting that. And lets see how many copies of Diablo III get pirated and how many it prevents.
Oh btw, calling someone "narrow-minded kid" on a public forum is the not really the way to get your point across.
