A lot of ignorant Blizzard haters here who think they are "dumbing down" Diablo in Diablo 3.

The ignorance is that you believe Diablo was ever "deep" to begin with.

Lach0121

also the music in diablo 3 just sounds like generic movie music i want scary music

I am a huge Matt Uelmen fan, but I must say the first part of Diablo II's music was sub par compared to Diablo 1. Meaning that the music up until after Blood Raven, was mainly just ok when compared to the first game, and doesn't start getting good in Diablo II until you get passed Blood Raven.

Which Is basically what I expect from Diablo III, I don't want all the scaryness, and/or fanfare to be at the beginning of the game. I want there to be a nice suspenseful buildup like in Diablo II.

Diablo I's music was dark all the way through, but it still the scariest and heaviest tracks were still: Catacombs, Caves, Hell. Which were all after the first quarter of the game. Tristram, Intro, and Dungeon (were dark, but not as scary as the later 3 tracks)

Over 90 minutes of music from Matt Uelmen are in Diablo 3, including this.

diablo 1 was def the scariest. It actually scared me for a bit when I first played until I adjusted. FPS horror games dont scare me cause I know they are meant for your average fps player and I am like way more MLG pro so I can't be scared. Diablo 2 didn' scare me, but I played coop with a friend. Diablo 3 was laughable. Also I played all these games like 1 month next to each other, last year. Diablo 3's art design and sound just turns me off.

Then watch a scary movie, play a horror game. Buy the Diablo 2 Soundtrack. Problem solved.

Diablo 3 was well worth the wait. Incredible game of absolutely superb quality. Blizzard makes some of the best games out there and Diablo 3 is no exception. Everything from the gameplay, to graphics, to sound, is extremely well done. Just a great game overall and has a very good chance of being Game of the Year!C_A_V_E_M_A_N

[QUOTE="vivekraikkonen"]

Its kinda weird, somebody making a new profile talking up the game of GS forum about the beta, this close to the actual game's release.

Anyways, I'm gonna have to ignore Diablo 3 at this moment sadly. I can't see the wisdom of having an always-on internet DRM even when playing single-player; I travel a lot and don't always have internet.

I'll probably wait for price drops, pick it up on cheap and then get a crack. Its sad really but its easier to run pirated games these days than legit ones. And I used to think that blizzard were a pro-consumer company. Although I pretty sure Acti-f**king-vision had something to do with that DRM.

vivekraikkonen

Do you understand that you can't crack D3 because all data is stored on their servers like in WoW. All you can do is make a private server which will be a lot worse and buggy than official one. Always on-line means it will be easier for them to deal with hacks and bots, having this DRM benefits them and players. At last Blizzard is smart enough not to pay attention to narrow minded kids like you, I respect them for that.

Look, I genuinely have no interest in how their online DRM works. And I can't see how it is of any benefit to me, considering I will probably have to pass on this game because of that always-online thing. If I'm not wrong, I'm not alone in this and a lot of people have already complained about it. Heck, go the the main GameSpot page today, Laura Parker has criticised it. Not everybody has internet available to them 24x7.

You have an always-on internet, you can play this. Good for you. That doesn't make it any more convenient for the rest of us that don't. Read that post again, I never said I was gonna pirate the game, I never have done, never will. You have to understand the difference between picking a game up cheap on sale and stealing it.

My job requires me to travel a lot and I spend a lot of time sitting alone in a hotel room in remote places where my only pass-time is playing single player games on my laptop. I don't think it is too much for me to ask from a game that I've PURCHASED to let me play SINGLE-player hassle-free.

And perhaps this will be too much for you to understand that I said I'll have to download a crack EVEN AFTER I will purchase it; whether it works or not thats another matter. Its that DRM thats gonna make me get that crack even after buying it; or not going to let play the game at all even after purchase, which seems likely now; going by your explaination of the DRM that you "respect" Blizzard so much for.

I never realized that having a 24x7 internet connection was a compulsary requirement for gaming, especially for single-player. Go back just a few years, take even Diablo 2 for that matter. Diablo 2 didn't have any DRM, I bought it and played the hell out of it; so did millions of others. Those who wanted to play online still played online just alright, people like me were happy with the single-player experience they got out of the game. Blizzard made millions from that game, going a long way in making Blizzard what it is now. All that without a DRM.

You quote me WoW as example. I hope you do realize the difference between a single-player and a MMO game.

In the end, I'll probably end up ignoring Diablo 3 and picking up Torchlight 2 whenever that comes out. Atleast it won't have me dealing with the hassles of DRM to play single-player. Its the DRM thats making Blizzard lose out on my purchase, as well as other like me. Good luck respecting that. And lets see how many copies of Diablo III get pirated and how many it prevents.

Oh btw, calling someone "narrow-minded kid" on a public forum is the not really the way to get your point across.

You have a point that not everyone can be always on-line, that means game is not for those people. Blizzard said hundreds of times that D3 was designed as co-op multiplayer game. D3 built on a client/server architecture unlike D2, you can't pirate it, the game won't work properly. Look at D2, full of hacks/bots/dupes... Why should Blizzard make hacking aceccable just because bunch of people can't be on-line? Why should I listen to some Laura Parker that babbles some nonsense and has no idea what D3 is about? Come on dude this is just silly.

@ Jiggly, don't forget age, and experience can callous the fear factor in something like a video game for people. Both of which were growing since Diablo, and Diablo 2. (16, and 12 years ago)Now it takes a little more (under the circumstance) to get some of that same fear factor. There are ways to play these games that can truly test your fear, or supposed "lack of." Even I with such limited capacity can think of ways that will make just about any gamer fear, in a game, if you provide the right environment and circumstance...

Don't believe everything you hear, personally I bought both, but for every bad thing said about the game you could find at-least one or more people who say good things.

It was bad. The beta was absolutely horrible. That being said I'm still getting the game on the 15th. Blizzard always releases quality titles. Even if I don't believe it's going to be the master piece everyone thinks it will be. I know it will be fun and have a great story.

[QUOTE="DannyUnlimited"]I'm thinking of getting this game on my Mac but I just realized that since Macs have smaller arrow keys that might impact the ease of play. Are the arrow keys used often in Diablo games?Lach0121

I am not too sure about Diablo III, but Diablo I and II were more mouse click controlled games, using shortcuts on the keyboard for things. (1-9) for potions/skills

hold shift to swing in place.. Most of your movements are with the mouse, click to move, can also click to hold to continue moving.

As long as your mac has adequate specs, I don't think the arrow keys matter much, if at all in Diablo.

Thanks, good to hear.

Diablo III is the natural evolution of a TASTEFUL perspective. and saying D3 is dumbed down based on 13 levels of normal is really short sighted..... yea okay maybe there are not as many random statistics available on normal now, and your choice of abilities is locked tighter until later. but fact still remains, first 13 levels in Diablo 2 despite "somewhat deeper" had ultimately no more substance than D3s, because those elements were introduced from the beginning and not significant enough to make an impact until much later.MBirdy88

Character build in Diablo 2: Pick overpowered skill, max that and its synergies and maybe a skill or 2 which works well your main skill that you will be spamming nonstop. No comment needed on attributes.
Character build in Diablo 3:Pick 6 skills and rune them. Instead of finding one overpowered skill to spam, it is about finding a good set of skills where the skills complement eachother well.

I wonder which one has more depth?

[QUOTE="mirgamer"][QUOTE="WizardGlass"] guess what folks, blizzard hasnt made a good game in a LOOOOOONG time. ever since activision acquired them, the "quality" of their development has taken a steep nosedive. i daresay diablo 2 was the last "good" game we have seen out of blizzard.

Starcraft 2 says "Haters gonna hate". :)

Yep. SC2 is pretty nice, if we could just this balancing thing down. But back on topic, I believe D3 looks alittle outdated compared to the standards of other games but its Blizzard and it will sell millions to fan boys, nuff said.

It's in-game music in Diablo 3. They were recording it since 2005 lol

I can't find the blue post regarding this, but it exists.

The only problem I have with D3 is that it's lacking the one of the best songs in history. New theme only slightly resembles it, and it's so forgettable.

Oh great, so it isn't just the music that was from diablo I and II if they were recording it since 2005.. This is rather awesome news, and Baranga you have made my day! :DI was under the impression that little to know MU music would be in DIII.

This is great, Videogame music is one of my biggest inspirations for my own music. (along with many other wonderful sources) and MU is one of my fav video game composers.

Shame on Blizzard for this terrible attempt at stealth marketing. Don't they know that there are dozens of 10000+ post users here willing to suck up to them for free? In fact, they're already doing it!
