Both can be huge time sinks if you're into them. Diablo is a good game, but in the long run the only thing that will keep you coming back is loot, or maybe playing with other people, that's something Skyrim doesn't have. Skyrim keeps you addicted for the tremendous amount of content to explore and do, with mods as a nice bonus when you get bored of the vanilla stuff.
You specifically mention better story and environment though, to that, I'd have to answer Skyrim. You should eventually get both games though.
Go with the one that doesn't cram its DRM down your throat. The one that lets you play on a boat, train, plane, or wherever else you choose to play the game you paid for.
Skyrim has a coop mod and great reviews. Diablo 3 gets poor reviews and I don't hear many ppl enthusing about it.

Has there actually been any poor D3 reviews? Besides user reviews on metacritic, because they don't mean sh!t.
Don't come with that BS. The DRM on a game doesn't influence if the game is bad or good, or if the story is good or bad.Go with the one that doesn't cram its DRM down your throat. The one that lets you play on a boat, train, plane, or wherever else you choose to play the game you paid for.

I'm sorry, the next time I express my opinion I'll make certain to filter it through you first.
Neither game is anything special... Skyrim is less grindy and has more content that isn't repeated. Its also horribly buggy and the world feels a bit dead.
The writing and story in Diablo 3 is appauling, and it feels like you are playing a slot machine sometimes. You put in 60 dollars, and it gives you a bunch of bright flashing lights in return that make you want to keep playing. You need to endure the drudgery of normal mode before the game becomes at all fun.
At least with skyrim, you feel like you are getting a full game, not a finely tuned profit machine.

I'm pretty sure Steam allows me to play off-line whenever and wherever I want. Does Diablo 3 do that now, too?
Yeah, that's what I thought...
[QUOTE="vfibsux"]It kind of loses that epic feel when it tells you to find a lost ancient ruin, then gives you an exact pinpoint location on your map where it is.Diablow 3 is terrible, Skyrim is epic.

You know you can turn those off, right?

Thats how I play. Feels more like Morrowind. Diablo 3 sucks balls btw TC.Both have awful stories, Toxic-Seahorse:roll:Skyrim's story is not awful for a video game, and on the contrary has some excellent parts. Your expectations are just exceedingly high. I would like you to name me all the video games you lilke that have a story worthy of Shakespeare.

Unless your net drops and Steam won't let you access any of the games installed on your HD.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. That's like saying a game riddled with bugs doesn't influence whether it is good or bad. If the game won't start without a company's servers being online, that MIGHT be a factor that rational people use in making their purchase decisions. It also says a lot about the publisher - considering the first publisher to arbitrarily add online DRM was Ubisoft, which may even be a slightly worse publisher than Eidos.Go with the one that doesn't cram its DRM down your throat. I much prefer Skyrim, but they are differnent games, if you love loot and play with friends, get Diablo, otherwise Skyrim

Ummm... Offline mode. That doesn't happen. So long as your games were fully updated before going offline the last time. And I just leave steam in offline mode all the time, except when I specifically want to see if there's any updates.

Offline mode is glitchy and often won't start if the net is disconnected while Steam isn't on in the background. That happens quite a bit to me on campus and forced me to crack all the Steam games I want to play since they block the ports for Steam...

Yes, but 9/10 they won't give you any directions whatsoever, they'll just mark it on the map, so it's either turn it on or have no idea where to go.[QUOTE="the_bi99man"]

Hmm. Weird. I've never had any problems with offline mode. Didn't have internet for well over a year a while back, and played HL2 and Portal all the time.
[QUOTE="Assimilat0r"]Skyrim is a noobfest compared to the first 3 games of the series, which I'm guessing you haven't played.Skyrim, if you are a gamer, if you are just one of mindless Blizzard hordes then get Diablo 3.

Wtf, i played all of Elder scrolls serials, and played all 3 Diablo's.

That WASN'T an opinion. You are judging the game because of it's DRM, not it's game aspects like gameplay, sound, story. The TC asked which one was more addictive and had better story....he didn't ask which one had less DRM.I might be getting a new laptop with decent enough specs to be able tu run both game but I have funds to only get 1... which one is more addictive and has a better story/environment?:D

I would say get Skyrim because you can have a ton of fun with the mods. You cant go wrong with either game though.
P.S. The Tallest Man on Earth sig :D nice choice, very nice choice.
