Hey there, Im having some computer problems. I am running in safe mode as that is the only way my computer will start. I recently installed the sims 3 on my comp and played it for a good couple of hours. after i was done playing I left my computer on to download some tv episodes on Itunes, i forgot i left it on and went to bed. I woke up the next morning to find my comuter running, I went to turn it off and the mouse jumped across the screen and the computer froze solid. having no other way to turn it off i held the power button down. I turned it back on a bit later thinking it had over heated and used it like normal, I tried to turn the sims back on and my screen froze and started blinking. now i cant start the computer unless its in safe mode, and i havent even done that for any lenght of time. I have a NVIDIA Gforce 9800 GT and I'm running a 64 bit vista computer with a AMD Phenom 9500 quad core processer. sorry about the epic post but i could use some Info on what to do.

Look in Windows Update for any updates that might have been installed during then night then use System Restore to roll back.

Update history. If it won't use System Restore and go back a few days.

Try an earlier date. If it still happens install HWInfo32 and post your temps.

Might want to open your case, and make sure it is clean from dust, also make sure all of your fans are working...

It wouldn't hurt to make sure your videodrivers are up to date...

also be a good thing to run a Virus Scan..

ESET.com go there, and download a 1 month free trial of Nod32, it is THE BEST ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAM.

I wouldn't bother with Eset. Microsoft Security Essentials does all you need for free.

Perhaps, but it is a free trial.

I think instead of renewing my license with Nod, cause even though it is fantastic, We usually download all of our stuff from official sites. (don't get virus's much) so I was thinking of going with a great free one, like MSE or AVast or something of the sort.

I don't think we need premium AV because we don't download all that much, and what little porn we look at, I am sure that MSE or AVast would be able to take care of any problems, if they come.

If you want porn I'd recommend pornBB and Youporn. Haven't been infected from those. Apart from MSE (which would be my top choice) I'd run a weekly scan with Malwarebytes just to make sure nothing has slipped through.

I've tried the virus scan, and re setting to an eilier date, it worked for a while, the screen turned white for a few seconds, worked fine, froze solid again. right now it says its installing driver software for my wireless mouse and keyboard, and has done so twice. should I re format or will that make a difference. I would rather not if there is another way, but I'm open to it. also, is this a common problem? I'm not too tech savy, I know enough but I get confused easy :p anyway Thanks for helping me out, I really appriciate it.

This could be a hardware issue. Can you download Malwarebytes and scan for malware in safe mode? Also, download Hijackthis and post the .log file. Right click the Hijackthis .exe and run it as admin.

I know I've bothered everyone lol but I could use a bit more help I think. what could it be?

Run malwarebytes, super anti spyware twice in safe mode. And disconnect from the internet after you update them.

All fixed up. Thanks guys. now one last question, do I still have to worry about that malware coming back as long as I have internet? I know its a silly question, but I actually dont have a lot of experience with bugs lol
