Did the BF3 patch really screwed up things THAT badly?

I've been reading negative feedback about the patch...apparently there are still a bunch of crashes, now even more often, the levels takes more time to load, theres still green flicker and they removed the auto squad placement...this is like the most stupid thing they could have done, seriously, what was the point in that? nobody joins a squad now, so teamplay is terrible...they made it more CODish...I dont know really what was the problem with auto squad placement.

oh and all the suggestions in the get satisfaction forums which DICE apparently checks all the time and considers? they got all ignored.

I haven't had any problems. It's just a very vocal minority.

This is the problem with brand new game engines built for the PC. They haven't been able to really get it out there and test it on a wide vareity of hardware and software configurations.

I can tell from the contents of the latest patch they are really focused on trying to optimize the engine before changing the HUD or anything else major. The Squad stuff was done out of necessity, I doubt they ever wanted the squad system to be what it was, they just couldn't get the manual join to work with the matchmaking service correctly.

I'm not experiencing anything bad, just questionable hit detection.

Weird, last I checked that's usually only the case for simulators, MMORPGs, RTS, MOBA, and in general games you'd only see on PC :P I got a BSOD 2x within 30 min of playing post-patch and I fixed it by turning FOV back down to 70 and not turning too fast, so I suppose we'll see a patch within a patch, patchception if you will.

This, I shot a guy close up with an M4 and he didnt even take any damage. The guy may have been using some sort of hack though, since he didnt have any deaths.

havent had any issues, just noticed the changed squad setup buttons and the end round text at the bottom. Hit detection is fine for me....maybe because the servers I play on have a ping around 15-20

Played several rounds today. The patch fixed the flickering that I was experiencing. Though they did tone down the SCAR-H some, I've noticed.

Lag switchers + client sided hit detection can lead to some problems as well as the fact that hack users can easily avoid getting caught, albeit there are some servers where anyone getting something like 25% accuracy or abnormal stats will get banned so just favorite those and you can avoid these situations easily.

It runs the same for me, but I was already running it around 60 FPS maxed anyways, so even if it did improve it I wouldn't have noticed. I wish they would focus on the UI instead.

Once you learn that people who complain on forums about said game with bugs or problems, are just the really vocal, whining, bi***ing minority(just read through the battlelog PC forums) then you will be fine. My only issue with the new patch is sometimes on pubs you will be on a team where there will be 3-8+ people not in a squad that don't realise it or don't care and the rest are full, empty or locked, usually just posting to your team chat helps the semi-intelligent ones get into a squad.

I'm not having any problems. It runs just the same as before and the new squad system also allows a little more flexibility in choosing your squad and being with buddies. Not a lot of big gameplay changes aside from some aircraft changes.

Jets still need some tweaking though. Before, they were a tad underpowered, now they're nice and useful for ground vehicles, but it seemed unnecessary for stingers to do less damage AND have less range. One would have been fine.

Also, they seriously need to fix jet counters in Rush. No reason we get an invincible AA gun in Conquest to prevent spawn killers, but then no such thing exists in Rush. At least put spawns out of enemy airspace so some unskilled jerkbag can't memorize the spawn and constantly destroy it before it take off, its such a major frustrating thing I'm at awe how DICE never saw this coming.

USAS-12 FRAG rounds are also too damn good, but these can hopefully be resolved next patch.

Hit detection has always been questionable in the series. Here it seems like the client side hit detection was a poor choice since I can't even count how many times I died long after I got to solid cover or avoided the shooting.

Before I had a perfectly running BF3. Now: Won't load 1st time. You have been disconnected from EA server error message. Massive framerate drop no matter what settings, and I have to restart PC to magically go back. Random disconnects. Noticed crappier netcode even on low ping servers.

Damn, that sucks. Yeah, this patch improved some people's performance and screwed up others. For me, the performance improved slightly but nothing to write home about. Netcode is still crappy, and hit detection got worse? I don't know how that could happen...but it did.

Well to be fair, people should be vocal if they are experiencing problems and issues. How else would DICE improve their game if people didn't speak up? And one should remember to report these problems and issues on their official BF3 forums, not gamespot.com. They probably won't be reading any of this. But there is a way about going about reporting issues. Don't whine and complain, be helpful and site your issues and problems in an organized way. And specs!

That's a load. The latest patch makes my BF3 unplayable after about 20 minutes. I slowly get worse and worse stutters. I have a 570GTX and an i5 750 with 4 gigs of RAM. I'm running this game on highest settings with AA and Vsync off. Have the latest driver for my video card too...

I don't think you understand the point of forums at all. People go there to resolve their problems by posting about it and getting feedback. I don't know why people like you are so willing to get shafted and sit there quietly. The "whining bi"****** minority" are the ones actually contributing to getting the game fixed. If you don't like it, gtfo.

Before patch: Caspian Border, 40 FPS average, 30 FPS minimum

After Patch: Caspian Border, 35 FPS average, 22 FPS minimum

q9550 3,8 GTX580 860/2100

Also, people are not really crying about the stuff that they changed, but rather about the OBVIOUS, GAMEBREAKING stuff that the DIDN'T change. IRNV. Need I say more?

Exactly. I don't get why people complain about the people who complain. Complaining doesn't necessarily equal whining, crying forum go-ers. Some of us actually go in there to contribute by reporting bugs and issues in the game. Imagine if no one reported this "stuff." DICE wouldn't know where to start and the game would be broken to hell and back. If anything, I cannot respect the people that don't report problems and issues. Consumer feedback is extremely important.
