I have 32 bit W7 with 4GB ram... is that okay ? or its too much ? :P

And if its okay then how big RAM can be used in 64 bit ?

(btw. i dont need more than 4GbRam right now.) :)

If the cost difference to you isn't much, get 64-bit. 1) Higher memory cap 2) 64-bit processing on most modern applications. Full driver support and backward compatability with 32 bit only programs, it really is a no brainer: Go 64 bit :)

That definitely does not make it sound like 64-bit is the way to go. :p

I'm using 64 bit and I'm not having any compatibility issues at all. I have heard there are some people out there having problems, but I think (and this is a wild guess) it may have more to do wih hardware

Can you specify? I would really like to know what type of apps not working with x64?, cos i havn't seen that at all, iv'e even run some things from the win98 era on win7 64bit and have no trouble. IF someone have trouble they should try running in another compability mode. (as in XP/win98/win2000 mode.)

Games that worked flawlessly on XP sometimes don't work on Windows 7. Bioshock and Fallout 1 and 2 are examples. (I've tried compatibility modes, but that wont work at all with Steam games).

Deus Ex runs, but it has strange performance issues, but it runs and it's playable.

Ironically, I just booted up Planescape: Torment and it works amazingly.

The only driver compatability issues with 64bit are not with consumer things, mostly things with Texas Instruments... Man they are so bad at adopting to 64bit. I have this PCMCIA data logging card, and of course no 64 bit drivers, or with ti virtual connect, and with some ides. And with some serial connector stuff... Yes all outdated, but perfectly good stuff. With consumer stuff, everything works with 64bit.

I don't think anyone but netbook owners should be using anything but a 64bit OS in 2010.

you can't use more than around 3gb with 32bit, that's about it and 32bit will work on old cpus that don't support 64bit. you are stupid to buy 32bit if you computer is less than 3 years old.

there is no point whatsoever going from vista 32 to 7 32. if you upgrade you want 64bit.

64 bit can be 2x faster than 32 bit. that is only if the program uses SSE though and its not always the case.

No... Most programs written these days use SSE if they are cpu intensive. 64bit can help with very large calculations though.

if you have not purchased or still can exchange, then I would get the 64-bit, it should be little to no extra charge. And the difference is that 64 bit will utilize ram more than 3gb

Yea, but those problems have nothing to do with whether it's 64bit or 32bit.
