Direct2Drive - 50 games for $5 each

Apparently to celebrate it's 5 year anniversary, D2D is selling 50 games for $5 each. Over the next 5 weeks, 10 games at a time will be set at that price.

By the way how is Direct2Drive? Do you have to have a program running to play the game? Like steam or no?

I purchased a Disciples pack from them once...you download a .exe file that installs the game, and if my memory serves me correctly, you activate it online with a CD-Key. That's it...no additional programs or anything. I actually backed up the file on a CD too, and have installed many times. This was years ago though, so not sure if anything has changed since then. But my experience has been pleasant and trouble free.dnuggs40

Yeah... Another Ubi Soft sale, seems like there is a sale from them every 2 weeks in rotation on every DD services... They just send a message that scream, don't buy our games when we released them, you will get them 50% within 1 month anyway ( Hawx, AC,...). Anyway, I don't really like d2d, the way they give you zipped file and that their download manager is not compatible with anything except the crappy IE is really dumb, but if they give a good deal on some rpgs, I might buy again from them ;)Franko_3

Do my eyes deceive me? Is that Civilization 4 for $5? If anybody here doesn't own Civ 4 already, then open your wallet and spend the $5. That is a sweet, sweet, deal. That's potentially the best $5 you might ever spend.

That is what I thought too. If I didn't already have S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl I would pick it up. Same with Bioshock. Already have it but that is a nice deal.

I was prepared to spend $30 for a boxed copy of Dark Athena. You can bet I'm buying a digital downloaded copy for $5. I can't even buy a grande mocha and a chocolate chip cookie for five dollars.
