DX10 on XP is a gimmick, it really isn't DX10 as far as I am aware. If you want DX10 or even DX11 you can go download Windows 7 which will give you about a year of free usage before it starts shutting itself off.

dx10 in xp is technically impossible due to the software. the project that was trying to get it to work failed and really had too many problems to be considered even a alternative. try downloading windows 7 or just buy windows vista with a free upgrade

are you joking? the change from separate shader units to unified general purpose ones wasnt special?

Thats a convenience for developers. It does nothing for performance for the end user. I'm assuming you're talking about the unified shader model. Unified shader hardware has nothing to do with DX10.

um it also has benefiets for the end user. put a card with 400 vertex shaders and 400 pixel shaders with all the clock speeds the same as a hd4850 and see which one comes out on top. the unified model is more efficient allowing more power to be utilized since there wont be resources just ideling around.

and yes it does have to do with dx10. a card cant be considered dx10 without that. the whole push for it was due to the development of dx10

meh, who cares? As an end user, Ive seen no benefit from dx10 in my games. Im not a dev, and pretty much everyone here isnt.

that has nothing to do with dx10 but the dx10 gpus also added unified shaders at the same time, anyway win7 is no longer available for free download.
