[QUOTE="vIGAMEIv"]Im glad everyone suggest ibuypower and building my own .O dont want to come off as a jerk because I do appreciate the advice but ipower have some pretty bad reviews along with customer service. Also I have a $1500.00 credit with dell that has no financing for 12 months that really helps.I can see if those cards are a option on the alienware.Do I need dual cards or is one fine enough?neatfeatguy
I don't like when people base their decisions off of "bad reviews" online. Yes the internet is a good way to obtain information....but the info you find should not directly affect your decision on what you should or should not buy. Find me a business that doesn't have any bad reviews. People tend to focus on the negative and voice their opinions when something bad happens. It's a lot easier to find bad reviews then it is to find good reviews. People tend to post bad reviews over posting good ones.... Now I'm not saying that ibuypower is a great company, but don't judge them too quickly. They keep their costs down by using "less" name brand products and skimping out on shipping a bit. Their Tech Department does suck for customer service - I tried dealing with them a few times and the people working the tech lines are dumb as rocks. Other then that, their computers do tend to come to you all ready to go without any problems. Would I suggest them....? I guess it depends on the situation you're in. For you I'd say if you have a $1500 credit then go with Dell, though you will greatly overpay them for a gaming PC. There is no way around that. If you didn't have that credit to use, I'd suggest looking at a few other PC companies (like ibuypower for example) or to just build your own. Depending on the GPU, one card is generally enough. If you picked up a 5770, I'd think you'd might want to get a second one down the road. Otherwise a 5870 would be enough on its own to last you a long while.

I do agree maybe I shouldnt be so quick to jump on it based off reviews .However being really not that great at computers I would prefer a company I know that has it shares of bad reviews and also alot of good reviews,Buying a computer for $1400.00 knowing the customer service is not that great or the products makes me feal a little uneasy. Its also not just one site with alot of bad reviews but many websites have bad reviews on their products.I also feal whenever you buy something online reviews are the best bet knowing how a product is.

I know you said to not mention build your own, but you can build your own in 2-3 hours and build one beast of a PC for $1500. The only hard part is picking the parts, but I know there are at least 15 guys who will do that for you if you start another thread asking for a parts list for an awesome $1500 PC.

DieselCat18

Even someone with experience can't build a PC from start to finish in 2-3 hours....not to mention a person that has little to no experience and no time to do it in.....bad advice !

*+

I've built pcs in 10 minutes lawl. One awesome thing I have done was replace 3 hds, a videocard and loaded my server back(I had to install the OS (one of the OS hds failed and it was using RAID 0 for the OS)) and got all my virtualmachines up, all my gameservers up in 30 minutes. That was 30 minutes of downtime for: my website, my file transfer server, 2xobsidian conflict gameserver, garrysmod, killing floor, and my ssh server. It was epic.

Probably sub-$1000, considering that you can get an i7 920 paired with a 5870 for around $1100-$1200.

Basically for Alienware you're paying for the name and their custom towers and maybe good customer support??? I don't know if they have good customer support, I've never dealt with them, but for as much as you pay, it better be good. I kind of have a personal rule of thumb when comparing an Alienware PC to a PC you build yourself with similar parts - you're going to roughly spend 1/3 or more buying from Alienware over building the PC yourself; though It also widely depends on the improvements/upgrades you pay for from them. Ideally, if Alienware can build you a PC for $1500, you should be able to build a similar PC for around $1000, give or take a bit.

just go back a couple pages ago; it shouldn't be too hard to find. (this forum isn't really that active)

Pretty sure this forum has become more active in the last few months, or maybe I've just been spending way more time on it :P

When you play games on a pc do you always have to have the disc in?vIGAMEIv

half of the games that i have on disc i do not need the disc for.. the other half i do need the disc for..

it depends on how you installed the game and if the game needs to start the exe file from the disc for anti-piracy reasons or whatever.

If you have 1500 bucks please do not go and buy a dell please! LOL I know thats not why you started this thread but if you really don't have the time to build one or you don't feel comfortable doing so, with that kind of money you could get the parts you wanted and have a professional build it for you!

[QUOTE="smc91352"][QUOTE="millerlight89"]I made this build for another thread, which the guy wanted an Intel rig and that GPU. Though this is certainly a great looking PC.millerlight89
Go looking, yes. worth money, no. (I don't so...)

Not worth the money?

for current games you are wasting money buying i7s when a phenom 2 is under half the price for identical gaming performance. heck even a core 2 duo is more than enough for most games.
