I just bought my first gaming rig and I am planning on buying Guild Wars. Do a lot of people still play it? Is it worth getting?

the rpg content has been crushed by so many holes made or found by the community that idk it just doesnt feel fun anymore to me.. and the end game is terrible since they stubbornly refuse to nerf any exploits anymore thats would be what i mean. but it does mean you get to the heavily populated pvp section of the game quicker where limitless fun does still abound.

if you do get into it go all in never hold out theres to much content your missing otherwise. like guildwars vanilla is big.. easily (done the waay you should) takes easily 100+ hours but the expansions double that if not multiply that by 2.5times its a very big game for an online rpg.

last time i was on was a few weeks ago..just checking out the old joint. it seems fairly populated...but id definately recommend getting into a good guild to make progress. you can do most of the missions with just henchmen but soem are definately alot easier with other people. as for expansions....you dont need them (though you do need 1 other guild wars if you want to play eye of the north). however i would recommend them...i think you can get all of guild wars now for reasonable money. but each GW has plenty of content in its own right so dont worry about needing to get all of them to play (again except eye of the north..you must have one other GW game and account before you can play EOTN). also know what your getting yourself into. this is not a WOW type game...its a very different animal. its excellent imho but if your looking for something like WOW then look elsewhere. GW is very co-op and PVP focused. you dont need to do one to do the other of course. the PVE is more like a single player game than an MMO. you go adventuring with a few other people or henchmen and when your out adventuring, its only you and your group out there. its whats called an instanced area. each group has theur own copy of an area. i love it....other hate it....but just be aware of it when your going in.

Just wait for GW2 man. I played GW for a little while but it got stupid real fast. Gave it so many chances too. I wanted to lvoe that game so badly. Reinstalled it multiple times trying to get more fun out of it but it never came. I obsessed about the missions for a while and then stopped. It just gets pointless and there isnt as much customization as you would want and need in a game like that. A lot of it felt like a Free to Play game where you have to pay to get the real good stuff even though you really didnt. It just felt like that and that was just lame. I liked how smoothly it ran and how nice it looked but thats its. I couldnt even get into PvP and that was built for fast and easy access. [sigh] thank god the next one is gonna have a persistent world and far better combat.
